New Horizons Computer Learning Centers Reviews

Reviews 1 to 9 of 9

3.0

Pros

Good teachers, Positive environment, Hands-on training

Cons

Inadequate hands on training for students without prior knowledge of the subject matter

Other comments

Classroom lectures covering the current topic and followed with individual and collaborative lab scenarios. The training was good, but a bit rushed and overly structured. It was theoretically solid, but real world practices have not truly mirrored how the material was taught.

Pros

Good teachers, Affordable, Positive environment

Cons

Fast paced overview

Other comments

At the Project Management Institute, I attended a boot camp which was a cram session with an instructor going over each piece of the PMBOK, sometimes in detail. The hardest part of the training is the overwhelming size of the book and the fast-paced way the instructor went through the book. I was completely drained after the first day, not knowing if I could go through the second day. After the training, I had a good support group who attended the training to meet with.

4.0

Pros

Good teachers, Helpful career services, Good career preparation, Hands-on training

Cons

Very fast pace

Other comments

The class was a very fast moving and intense review of the entire project management process. Attendees download files to work on exercises while the instructor is demonstrating them. The instructor was very open to questions and encouraged participation. The pro of the class is that it was able to be done online plus it was a good overview of project management. The con is that it may have been hard for some students due to the fast pace, and this certificate is not as important as a PMP certification.
