A combination of theory and hands-on training. I was enrolled in a Department of Labor (DOL) state-approved apprenticeship program through the Norfolk Adult Technical Center, which consisted of a four-year curriculum in plumbing theory, mathematics & related science, first aid, occupational safety & health, blueprint reading, welding, rigging & hoisting, heating systems, plumbing & gas code, blueprint reading, and field trips related to the profession.
