Classroom instruction and two Internship experiences. The University and the school district where I was employed worked collaboratively to support the hours required for the internship experiences.

Cons

Campus is within city limits. Lots of less than desirable areas near classes and some safety issues.

Great school! Well recognized program. Many well known scholars have attended school at Old Dominion. Very nice facility with large hygiene clinic servicing the Norfolk area. Unfortunately students are required to provide the majority of their own patients. For me, being from outside the area, I found it difficult to obtain diverse patients to meet my patient requirements.

Excellent foundations or successful counseling in school as well as a wide variety of other settings. Old Dominion University’s Education and Counseling post graduate coursework that I completed was relevant to the career as well as interesting and enjoyable.

It was both classroom lecture and business reading comprehension problems. We analyzed variables that need to be taken into consideration when running your own business (examples: cost of power, cost to make a product, time it takes to make a product etc.)

The school offered what I needed to meet the requirements for my teaching license as required by the DOE. It was all online, so I feel this limited my ability to network and learn from other educators.

Training consisted of a combination of hands-on-training and classroom training. Training was a requirement for the position I held at the time. Lunch was provided also.

Pros

Flexible class hours, Positive environment

A typical day of studying consisted of 6 hours of classroom lecture and 4 hours of reading in the library. I learned how to segment different demographics, analyze market trends and develop functional excel spreadsheets. The studying culture was medium to high priority, with the hardest part being the inclement weather. I forged life long friendships and skills during my time at Old Dominion University.
