At Per Scholas I received hands-on instruction that covered a core knowledge of hardware, software and networks. I performed hardware break and fixes, Windows 7, 10 troubleshooting on VMware, image deployment through PXE, setting up wireless networks, sub-netting, network cable management and mobile device management.

Good combination of classroom as well as hands on learning. However you must be able to self study because the majority of your learning happens outside the classroom at home. You must be disciplined.

Pros

Helpful career services, Positive environment, Good career preparation, Hands-on training

Cons

Impossible to balance full time job and take classes

Other comments

Good combination of classroom and hands-on. In depth lessons on hardware and software during the first half of the fifteen week training and the other half is spent on networking. Enrolled candidates are from all walks of life, from zero experience to some with prior IT experience. The hardest part of the training is the reading - a lot of reading. The most enjoyable part of the training is passing the exam and celebrating with your classmates!
