Shawnee

I loved Shawnee and their health programs they helped me a lot understand how to do EKG’s and Phlebotomy. My degree will be in medical assistant when I finish college.

Portsmouth is a small town with old homes that are open to the students. I lived in Portsmouth so I'm not sure of housing conditions. The I instructors I had were extremely helpful. Out of college I started at Ashland Oil then moved on to working in a hospital. Working in a laboratory was the most rewarding job i could have wanted.

It's best to be in an urban area where there are manufacturers. One has to update to the current versions so that means that CADD has to be used all the time. It's OK to go to school in a remote area but the employment will be found around the larger cities.

Love the individualized education and smaller campus. Friendly, highly skilled and trained faculty Offered in state tuition costs for neighboring states. Car not required to get from class to class. The entire campus can be accessed within a 20 minute walking commute. Multiple degree options varying up to masters in a health field. Ability to walk around campus in less than 20 minutes. Easily accessible via interstate Access to ohiolink library which allowed statewide priveleges to books from other universities and colleges that were part of the ohiolink program. This program saved hundreds of dollars on textbook costs. Books were sent to the campus library for ease of pickup and drop off. I enjoyed Shawnee state. I would highly recommend this small hometown university to further your education.

I taught 16 years in Private schools and 5 years in public schools. The Teaching license is necessary to work as a classroom teacher in Public schools as well as private schools.
