Self study mostly with some practice tests. I would recommend using comptia's study material the most since they give the test. Probably 1 out of every 5 practice questions were on the actual test.

The training one receives from Keesler AFB is top notch. The schools operate in a compressed college schedule and it can hard to acclimate to the fast paced learning for some people. Being a military service member can be be hard at times but is deeply rewarding.
