It was a good combination of personal study and work as well timely feedback from professionals on the field. I had a working relationship with my instructor and adviser. Each of the 13 modules took about 5 hours to complete including feedback and projects, though some were longer and others were shorter.

Excellent situational classroom teaching methodology, peer to peer review and great instructional content. The challenging part of the course was learning projecting yourself in a classroom setting prior to being there. In such a setting a multitude of unexpected occurrence happen. Additionally, differentiated learners must be accounted and serviced.

Good amount of information on teaching. I thought the grading system was a bit severe. It took a great deal of time to complete the assignments, especially considering the amount of experience in the classroom I had at the time.

The CELTA intensive program demanded extremely rigorous adherence to teaching guidelines in regard to specifying and fulfilling lesson aims; applying language analysis; selecting appropriate lesson frameworks type of lesson; strictly adhering to timing of individual lesson stages; etc.

More opportunities to practice skills learned before moving onto the next topic would be helpful, however a big part of making it through the CELTA "intensive" course is demonstrating one's ability to simply keep pace.

Other comments

Be prepared for a truly relentless experience while taking the CELTA intensive course. You will in all likelihood have to pull a few all-nighters to maintain a passing grade. Don't make any social plans for the month you're there.

It's a lot of work -- which is not a "con," per se, but one must be aware of the workload to which they are committing themselves.

Excellent, very rigorous online instruction, combined with 20 hours of required practicum. The whole program is certainly very time-consuming, but the training is outstanding.

Excellent preparation to create a real lesson plan. Excellent feedback from the mentor at Teflen! The chapters covering English parts of speech were challenging, not remedial. The availability of the mentor to answer questions up to and including the lesson-plan assignment was extremely helpful.

Great combination of hands on experience and study materials. I was already teaching English as first language in an international school, however there were about 300-325 students who were immigrants and TESOL gave me an edge to guide and teach these students. I was made the Head of TESOL department and led other 15 teachers who worked directly under me. The dept. flourished and the number of students increased. The management was happy and I got a raise.

The course very flexible and I was able to go through the course on my own time. The hardest part is being self-disciplined in order to fish the course
