Rhode Island Food Handler Requirements

In Rhode Island, all food service establishments must employ at least one full-time, management-level employee who has been certified in food safety through a state-approved training and certification program. The Certified Food Safety Manager must be on site when food preparation is taking place. Food service establishments that employ 10 or more full-time employees must have at least 2 full-time, management-level employees who are certified as food safety managers. Certifications are overseen by the Rhode Island Center for Food Protection.1
