Texas Food Handler Requirements

Texas food law requires that all food service employees–including those that handle or prepare food, utensils of food-contact services–earn a Food Handler Card through a training program that is approved by ANSI or the Texas Department of State Health Services.1 Food service establishments also may be required to employ a Certified Food Protection Manager. Individual county and city health departments are responsible for overseeing CFPM programs.2
