Great work culture but income needs to be higher
Editor (Current Employee) –  Dallas-Fort Worth, TXJuly 18, 2017
It's great place to work with amazing bosses, however raises are hard to come by and compensation is low. But it is nice to be able to wear jeans to the office; that's a perk for me.
Pros
nice bosses, friendly atmosphere and laidback
Cons
low pay

Very unstable
Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Falls Church, VAJune 26, 2017
This company has been bought and sold several times and changes direction every few years. Every time a new corporation buys out the business jobs disappear and employees find themselves starting over or out of a job.

Small staff for a lot of work

Everything at 1105 Media is down to bare bones - there are not enough employees to do the work, so the employees that are left are given too much work to do in areas sometimes outside their skill set.

E-mail Broadcasting Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Chatsworth, CAMarch 12, 2014
Preparing and scheduling promotional emailings for a publishing company specializing in IT training; Adding current mailing lists and opt-out footer; Adding personalization to email as requested by the marketer. I learned alot about html and how to make emailings easier to view properly when there were problems in the initial design. Management was helpful and co-workers were fun to work with and train if they have questions.
Pros
Learned alot on how to spot problems in html and how to fix these problems.
Cons
waiting for marketers to respond to prepared product to okay them to go out as scheduled.

Life at 1105
Senior Web Designer/Developer (Former Employee) –  Chatsworth, CAJanuary 27, 2014
Working at 1105 Media for close to 9 years, my experiences were mostly positive.

A typical day would consist of creating wireframes and developing microsites for vendor B2B partnerships, designing banner ads and email templates for various ongoing marketing campaigns, or working with my Creative Director on the latest style guide for annual conferences.

The management was fairly hands-off, which allowed for creative freedom, and the opportunity to explore and implement the latest Internet technologies.

There's nothing bad I can say about any of my co-workers. Many of them old cubicle buddies from my early days in Chatsworth, several of them I developed a wonderful working relationship from a remote location.

The most enjoyable part of my job is that I enjoyed being able to help colleagues with a design-related or technical issue, and satisfying they're needs. They always expressed they're sincerest appreciation, to which it was an honor to be called upon.
Pros
Freedom to explore new technologies
Cons
Little to no project collaboration with fellow web designer/developers
