Terrible workplace conditions
Driver (Former Employee) - Marietta, GA - August 1, 2023
Wouldn’t recommend this company for any driver. Equipment was outdated and every week there’s a new issue with the truck. Warehouse is extremely hot.

Horrifying
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Pinellas Park, FL - July 28, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Good hours holidays and weekends off What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The management having no clue how to manage. If you don't know how to speak to people or treat to people how can you manage customer service Representatives. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? At one point there or three so-called managers to manage six people. I think they confused it with a preschool. If you have to manage people like that then you don't know how to hire the proper people. What is a typical day like for you at the company? While trying to take phone calls and take care of paying customers, you'd have to listen to screaming banshees in the background. Toxic is the best word I can use that would be politically correct.

Department Lead/Material Handler (Former Employee) - City of Richmond, VA - June 21, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The people are the best. I really felt like family and they really value you as person and an employee! What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The warehouse is non climate controlled so the summer is extremely exhausting. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? A & M is a caring and family oriented company.

Rotating Door Syndrome never stops.
Route Driver/Warehouse Worker (Current Employee) - Marietta, GA - February 23, 2023
the branch in Marietta, Ga has a big problem (3 plus years ongoing). The Management hire and fires at a high rate and high productivity is expected without proper training or organization standards. Tossing new hires into the "fire" without proper training or skills development, expecting them to work harder/longer to get the job done they don't get training for. The Branch manager is known to micro-manage the warehouse workers undercutting the Warehouse manager who can't get their staff trained before the branch manager fires the untrained warehouse worker(s)—leading back to the bigger problem of Rotation Door Syndrome. Leaving the Warehouse workers who are left to pull work weight to get the jobs done. Burning them out and having them quit and seeking a better working environment.
Pros
Free Thanksgiving dinner the day before Thanksgiving. PTO, 401K, Shareholder after 5 years of employment
Cons
Job/workplace culture, Micro-management, Lack of Customer Service.

Not much was good.
Material Handler/Forklift Operator (Former Employee) - Florida - December 12, 2022
You get hired in at $14 an hour and it never goes up regardless of how long you have been there or how much minimum wage goes up. They degrade you and call you names and make you feel belittled. I can say 100% they do not care about their employees.
Pros
Free coffee
Cons
Everything else

Very poorly managed @ Laurel location
CDL Truck Driver (Commercial Drivers License Truck Driver) (Former Employee) - Upper Marlboro, MD - September 25, 2022
Low moral, no sense of teamwork, safety is not a priority, no meetings to share interests/concerns/safety issues and upcoming changes, underpaid (with fast uprising economy), no discipline for people making multiple mistakes (daily), unsafe/over weight truck loading, old trucks/equipment that keeps breaking down, junky/unsightly premises, and customers noticing decline in quality of service. Totally disgusted with this Company!
Pros
You can get away with any and everything (No discipline)
Cons
Extremely mismanaged

They use less people to do more work and it’s very stressful and draining
Warehouse Worker (Current Employee) - Upper Marlboro, MD - July 14, 2021
This job is very stressful and depressing and mentally draining. They over work you with less people and never want to give you a raise. You can’t take a much needed day off because of it’s nobody to take your place when you’re off

management not the best , pay isn't good for type of work , a couple of employees that have been there for years haven't received a raise in years Management only concern is keep cost down for personal gain while employees get nothing , Unless you are in desperate need of a job I would recommend steering clear of thos company.

Terrible Place to Work
Warehouse Associate (Former Employee) - Jacksonville, FL - March 26, 2021
Management treats their staff like garbage, often resorting to psychological tactics to make someone uncomfortable at the most trivial perceived slights. Taking any personal time off was met with the same tactics. You leave when all orders are pulled. As they maintain a skeleton crew without replenishing those that leave, this often results in 12-14 hour days.
Pros
None
Cons
Abusive management

A plantation
Class a driver (Former Employee) - Pinellas County, FL - July 22, 2020
One of the worst companies you can work for ... everything is old and outdated even management ... forklifts for trucks are always broke so you will be doing your job my hand or manually most of the time ... they don't follow their own policies ... they don't care about your family life ... their benefits and pto time is thee absolute worse they don't give raises and finally they over work and underpay their drivers... I was making 20/hr which is way below industry standard for the jobs and routes I was running
Pros
Off weekends
Cons
Everything else

The worst year of employment in my life
Sales Representative (Former Employee) - Pinellas County, FL - May 11, 2020
From the top down, miserable & insecure. They do not want quality people. If you know more than them, don’t share it. Because that is the kiss of death. Especially the Pres. He is the most insecure of them all.
Treat ppl horrible. They made 1 woman drive 3 hours+ under the guise of a meeting, only to let her go. Who does that? She had to drive home. Mean and petty. Their office are disgusting.

Strong, Stable and Employee Owned and Operated Company with ESOP
Current Employee (Current Employee) - Florida - May 6, 2020
A & M Supply has been a great opportunity for myself and other employees to work for a stable and reliable company. There are a high percentage of employees that have been here for many years which is a great sign that they have felt secure and wanted to build their career with this company. The company provides a wonderful benefit in an ESOP which every employee receives a annual percentage of the company's profit which builds as a retirement fund. It amazes me that the negative comments are from individuals that could not live up to their responsibilities to the company and decided to move on or be released. There is not one company that is perfect and you should always work hard and give 110% to get anything in life. Maybe we will have more comments from our current employee so you have a better perspective of a great company you could work for.
Pros
Career, Esop, Benefits, Very Stable Company, Longevity, Weekends Off

Progress, Evades them!
IT Specialist (Former Employee) - Pinellas Park, FL - April 10, 2020
God bless them, Leadership talks the talk but does not walk the walk! They talk about modernization, so scared and so naïve about technology! Hey dynasty if you’re not part of the food chain or you don’t agree with what is said or you think out of the box even though they ask you to it will stab you in the back! And smile on your face!
