I have been working at A&K Energy Conservation full-time for more than 30 years
Account Consultant (Current Employee) - Dade City, FL - July 20, 2020
I began my career 30 plus years ago with A&K Energy Conservation. It has been a great ride ever since. I have seen and been places during my career that I would never have had the opportunity to see if not employed at A&K, from the Rocky Mountains to the launch pads at NASA.
I started with A&K as a laborer and learned a valuable trade during my career and have become a State Certified Electrical Specialty Contractor during that time. That certification was hard earned and is valuable to both A&K and me.
I had considered retirement a year ago but reconsidered and I am committed to staying on board with the company that has become so much a part of my life.
My employment at A&K has been both enjoyable and educational. Has everything thing always been perfect, no, but it is never a perfect world.
Pros
If I could go back in-time I would change nothing, and I am OK with that!
Cons
None here, wouldn't change a thing!

A True family-friendly work enviroment
Active Employee (Current Employee) - Dade City, FL - July 15, 2020
This is a true family friendly work environment. During my time here, there have been plenty of people that have come in and out of the doors here. Some have left happy and some have not. Almost all of the office staff, have been there 10+ years some 30+ years. I think that speaks volumes for the company. The field techs are always traveling or working extra hard to complete the jobs and it seems that Admin is always trying to let them know/ show them that it doesn't go unnoticed.
Pros
See above
Cons
Truly haven't come across any yet - can having to work on Monday be con?

Great place to work where I feel like a part of the team!
Purchasing/Inventory Control (Current Employee) - Canton, OH - February 7, 2020
I really enjoy working for A&K. I came to the company knowing next to nothing about lighting and have learned so much. If you are willing to learn and do your job there are opportunities for advancement and pay increases. The company is growing and moving forward with the changes in technology. It's exciting to come to work and see what new opportunities lay ahead each day. The employees at A&K have become friends, not just co-workers.
Pros
Management that truly cares about you.

Horrible place to work
Fleet Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) - Dade City, FL - December 4, 2019
This finish won't be in business long. Their constantly losing contracts and fire employees because they can't afford to pay them. Very unorganized, favorite was a big issue.

Coordinator (Current Employee) - Dade City, FL - November 12, 2019
I am very proud to work at A&K. The last couple of years have been challenging and we have come together as a company with a very strong and smart leader and have a bright future ahead of us. I am exciting about the direction the company is going in and all the doors that are opening thanks to managements endless efforts. They work hard to take good care of their employees and offer them great benefits. I am glad to be a part of such a great team!

Fast paced team with lots of opportunities!
Coordinator (Current Employee) - Dade City, FL - September 9, 2019
A & K Energy has been a wonderful company to work for, I enjoy the everyday task and people here. There is always room for learning and opportunities and I cannot wait to see where this company is going next. The past few years have been challenging for A & K but to watch how the leaders take things head on is amazing and makes me proud to be apart of the team.

Love My Job!
Logistics and Operations Manager (Current Employee) - Dade City, FL - August 8, 2019
I've been here on and off for three years. I have been given several opportunities for advancement and can truly say that I love my job. We went through a rough patch last year with some toxic employees and poor management. Now that those people are gone, the company has improved so much!! The work is pouring in and everything is running so much smoother! You can really feel the team/family atmosphere now and I can't wait to see where we go from here!

Not a good company to work for.
Lead Account Coordinator/Fleet Coordinator (Former Employee) - Dade City, FL - July 6, 2019
No opportunities for advancement in pay or position.
Company has no communication between departments or between management and employees.
Employees are given conflicting directives from management...too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

Too stressful
Retrofitter (Former Employee) - Dade City, FL - July 1, 2019
The management is poor and does not case employees. They would rather babysit the crew leaders and not trust their judgement on the way their job should work.

Horrible, toxic company
Retrofitter (Former Employee) - Dade City, FL - May 29, 2019
This place is a joke! They treat the majority (unless you are a favorite) of their employees poorly. They offer little to no training on the job and then speak horribly to you and talk behind your back when you are not sure how to perform to their standards.
Pros
None!
Cons
backstabbing management, no training, poorly ran company overall!

inconsistent, Used to be family oriented.
Employee (Former Employee) - Dade City, FL - February 22, 2019
During my time with the company I have seen many changes.
Use to feel like a family oriented company that cared for employees like family. Now seems like you are just a number on the payroll.
Lacking in employee praise and recognition.
Travel expectations went from none to 100% with no regard to your family life.( employee would be asked if available to work outside of their normal route but employer would not take no for an answer)
Employer was constantly losing customers and accounts
Pros
company vehicle, work independently
Cons
a lot of travel

Very Disorganized
Office Coordinator (Former Employee) - Dade City, FL - February 18, 2019
This company hired me as a temp without my knowledge. They needed someone to fill a position until they brought a family member in. Hired people into positions that should not been advanced. If you know someone within the company they will treat you different. Did not train me as they stated they would. Did not run their company as a business but more as a family reunion.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Lack of training, computers always crashing, inexperienced management

Never had support
Senior Electrical Technician (Current Employee) - Dade City, FL - October 19, 2018
The company never took into consideration what you were going through out in the field and my supervisor had no knowledge of my position. If I had a question or concern we had to work with other technicians to figure things out. The amount of time spent away from home got to where I slept in hotels more than I did my own bed which was told would not be the normal but never changed.
Pros
Pay, other employees
Cons
No breaks, work/ life balance, management
