Patient Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Newburgh, NY - December 11, 2020
This job is great if you’re starting out and looking to build your resume but you definitely won’t grow your career here. Management is fine except for the scheduler who is extremely rude. The cases are okay but it is hard to make sufficient hours.
Pros
flexible
Cons
management

Typical home care agency.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (Former Employee) - Newburgh, NY - November 11, 2020
This company still used paper documentation during my employment with them. When you have a patient that is high acuity, it would be helpful to have a systems assessment sheet with pre-filled responses and tick boxes to make documentation quicker. Since they did not have this, I had to write out my basic assessment for each system every shift. A heavy patient care load with lengthy paper documentation often caused me to have to stay after my shift to finish documentation, for which I was not paid. Management refused to produce an assessment document despite multiple requests. I was told that if I wanted one I would have to make one for myself. This left a bad taste in my mouth for this company. That being said, the rest of my experience with them was typical for what you'd find for most home care companies. Although not having direct deposit was inconvenient, they were never late with my check, gave the option to pick it up so I didn't have to wait for it to come in the mail, and always had a snack in the office waiting for staff on pay day.
Pros
Per Diem status allows for a flexible schedule.
Cons
Still uses lengthy paper documentation and paper checks instead of direct deposit.

Convenient location with weekly pay
Certified Home Health Aid/Personal Care Technician (Former Employee) - Newburgh, NY - July 26, 2020
They have been in the community for a while and require more of you than they are willing to pay. It’s a revolving door. You get your training, you serve the community but the pay is horrendous and they know it. Industries like this take advantage of people and put them in these arduous jobs that need to be more financially rewarding.
Pros
Weekly pay with plenty of assignments
Cons
Low Salaries... starting salaries for jobs like this should be a minimum of $15 an hour

Not a bad place to work
HR Coordinator/Recruitment Specialist (Former Employee) - Newburgh, NY - April 8, 2020
This is not a bad place to work. The work isn't difficult and the pay isn't too bad. It's a small office at this location but they have many other locations as well. This is a good starter job...not a place to stay forever if you want to grow.

Thumbs down newburgh a&t/kingston a&t
PCA/Caregiver (Former Employee) - Newburgh, NY - December 12, 2019
They start you working even before your finger prints have come in so if you have a misdemenour from age 14 they will stop you working mid job which leaves you jobless and the process of getting it worked out is a nightmare. Working for A&T was nothing but problems. Signed off on making $15.00 an hour for a job that I was guaranteed upon completion of the PCA training. When I completed, that job hadn't started yet and a week went by still hadn't started yet. They start you working at $11.75 an hour so the pay is terrible. The staff and managers are rude and very condescending. Not a great place to work.

The clients were nice but if someone didn't show up to relieve you you end up staying.
Personal Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Kingston, NY - September 13, 2019
There were quite a few pca's that didn't show up because they quit and at one point they couldn't find anyone to replace me as I was there for 24 hours and didn't get time in a half.
The ones that did show up were punctual and on time and one was always late.
I got stuck at least 6 times and then I gave notice. They didn't even have direct deposit and so I had to wait days in order to deposit the check. I hope that things have changed for the better.

good staff.
Personal Care Aide (Current Employee) - Kingston, NY - June 10, 2019
I have been focused on higher education and have only been able to do occasional fill in work for A and T. The staff has been kind, understanding and kept me informed about all trainings and in-service requirements as I earn my degree. I really think the aides should make at least 15.00 an hour because of all the dedication they have to the company and clients.
Pros
good staff.
Cons
low pay.

I have worked for A&T for over 10 years. A&T has given me amazing opportunities and has helped me provide to my family. Your voice is aways heard and management is easily attainable. The coordinators always do their best trying to find you work that fits around your family life. My check is always on time and the benefits I receive are great. Also, they ALLOW OVERTIME! I love A&T and I will not be working anywhere else
Pros
401k, paid vacation and sick days, great staff

Great if your young in college or a stay at home mother, or retired and need to make your own schedule. And you may work as little or as long as you want. Paid weekly is a plus but no direct deposit. Staff is excellent and always willing to help. Can stay with company with RN degree but they do not have a benefits package for continuing education.
Pros
Make your own schedule
Cons
Low salary

Very Nice Starter Job for a PCA
PCA/CNA (Former Employee) - Newburgh, NY - September 13, 2018
Decent work environment. I had very little complaints and A&T Healthcare TRULY cared for their employees. I say this because A&T Healthcare had a client they we, the PCAs/CNAs were assigned to that did not treat we the direct care providers, PCAs/CNAs and so forth well at all.
Unlike some places A&T Healthcare listened to our complaints and concerns and no longer required us to return due to unlawful treatment of their employees.
Pros
Bagels and fruit provided when picking up checks and lunch during training.
Cons
Having to Bring time sheets in as oppose to faxing/mailing

Home health aide
Home Health Aide (HHA) (Former Employee) - Kingston, NY - June 1, 2018
As a home health aide you are required to follow their personalized care plans. Sometimes you needed to drive far. Hours are not guaranteed. You have to be suitable for this type of work.

Family Run Buisiness that genuinely cares
Field Clinical Supervisor (Current Employee) - New City, NY - December 8, 2016
I've worked for A&T for over 20 years as a registered nurse. I was provided the opportunity to not only incorporate my nursing skills within a home environment but also to learn new techniques. I have worked with patients from 3 mos- 100 yrs of age while working for this company. They are very accommodating in finding cases that fit your schedule and skill level. I am now a Field Clinical Supervisor and work out of the office as a visiting nurse throughout the community. Opportunities are provided by this company if you are motivated and willing to learn. Now I am in a position where I can be an advocate, teacher , perform hands-on nursing and communicate with other disciplines to ensure optimal level of care within the home environment which I know is this company's mission.
Pros
Very supportive company
