Early Childcare Teacher in Newark, DE

The job was fun and I was eager to work every day in the beginning. However, when the owners decided to open up a second location, the Assistant Director became the Director of the first location. They have a high turnover rate of teachers at both centers. Management and ownership are terrible. They are more worried about making money than spending money. Also, they offer no real benefits, and if you resign or leave on a bad note, they try to defame your character. Also, they use profanity during staff meetings (VERY UNPROFESSIONAL). The hardest part of the job is trying to maintain your classroom with little to no help especially on cleaning days. I will say the most enjoyable part of the job is the relationships between teachers and parents.

Owners only care about money. Never about their staff, very little about the children. Inadequate COVID exposure procedures. And have staff working in the center knowing they had tested positive. Admin is passive aggressive and constantly talks about staff behind their backs. Owners are very rude and condescending.

Since this is childcare, it is a fast paced environment. The management does not micromanage and expects you to do your job. If help is needed, there is always someone around to answer or help. I can call my boss anytime of the day if she is not in the building. The hardest part of the job is parents not following through on daily tasks that are asked. Frustrating as a teacher. Unfortunately, a lot of newer teachers come into this field and think it is babysitting! They realize it is not and get angry because management gets upset with them and expects them to do their job.

Take extremely great care of their children as well as their workers. The workers are amazing people and care for the children like they are their own. They are respectful and considerate at all times. Just an overall awesome place to work, and the bosses are even better to work for. They are the reason I am going back to school to become a nurse, without A.S Academy of Leaning I would not be where I am today.

Felt like a little small family. Great teachers, staff and owners. Always hands on with the staff and meet your needs, whatever they may be.
