Employees are cogs in the system
Member Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Grand Rapids, MIMarch 31, 2019
AAA is profit driven. Little care employees and members. They did not care is you have family life. When they needed you at work you had to be there. Little concern for the weather, having to pick up children from daycare. You are at work & post mandatory overtime during your shift and you better have someone else to pick up children from daycare. Promoted people to group leads and supervisors and managers but did not train them how to speak or care about employees. You could score a 100% on a call and they just could not good job, they would pick the call apart. I retired as soon as I was able.
Pros

Customer Advocate II (Former Employee) –  Grand Rapids, MIMarch 28, 2019
I really enjoyed working at AAA. The most challenging part of the job, for me, was choosing what to say to the members. The atmosphere is great, not very "friendly" but cordial. I like all the perks, contests and raises.
Pros
Benefits package, room for advancement
Cons
No mandatory Good mornings or hellos. lol

Overtime policy was very rigid, you would be notified you had to work the day it was required with no overtime pay included. Very typical call center environment

Working for AAA is rewarding until they pick favorites. I started out receiving raises and promotions at first it was great. Then they started messing with my schedule splitting my days off. Allowing me no time for family and maintain my health.

AAA Claims in Grand Rapids is a being led by terrible people
Claims Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Grand Rapids, MIMarch 21, 2018
There is absolutely no development. You are a replaceable thing and the leadership doesn't even feel the need to speak to you, much less develop plans for training and advancement. They, also, take your lunches at the drop of a hat when the call center is busy. The culture is disgusting.
Pros
not much
Cons
Terrible leadership, no development, no advancement, terrible culture

Working for AAA
Customer service (Former Employee) –  Grand Rapids, MIFebruary 19, 2018
A typical day consists of helping stranded motorists. All while adding the conversation into the computer program . I learned many skills at this job. Management seems to be ok, they press to be people oriented, but management needs to tone their people skills too.
Pros
Free food and great schedule
Cons
attendance policy for such a hard job

Be prepared to face rude, disrespectful, people
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Grand Rapids, MIFebruary 12, 2018
I learned that some of the managers there have favorites that can be as loud as they want when they want. They talk about you behind your back & if they don't like you they will find ways to mess with you about your work or calls you take. These very supervisors are the ones who determine if you get a raise or not so if you're not the k*** a** type, I wouldn't recommend working here. You get plenty of eye rolls & weird looks from other managers & may or may not get help when your hand is raised. Every other day a lunch or break is cancelled due to call volume. You are asked to lie to members who are always irate over the lousy service they receive. Favorites get help, get to take off whenever, get covered by their supervisor no matter what, can play around most of the day chatting away about nothing. They all make fun of members on a daily basis like leaving someone stranded is funny. If you're not a favorite, I wouldn't work here.
Pros
Good benefits, plenty of overtime
Cons
Cancelled lunch, & breaks, daily, no help from supervisors, if they don't like you, ng, about you behind, your back

Not the best company to work for. A failed merger, poor management, and lack of communication and direction makes the job far more stressful than it should be.

High stress and anxiety, and minimal support from management
ERS Dispatcher (Former Employee) –  Grand Rapids, MIJune 24, 2017
This job is highly stressful with very low reward. Employees are monitored hawkishly by management, with every second of their time tracked. They are encouraged to be comforting and conversational with clients, while simultaneously being harassed by management if calls violate a strict time limit. Employees are frequently denied bathroom breaks as a result, being promised ample opportunity for such necessities upon hiring, only to be informed that they are strictly not allowed to use the time allotted to them for it after training ends. As well employees can expect to be bullied and abused by clients regularly in the course of performing their job.

Emergency Roadside Service Advocate (Current Employee) –  Grand Rapids, MIMay 28, 2017
AAA is very fast pace which is good dispatching calls for members that need emergency road service. Its a very clean envrionment . The hardest part of the job is trying to refer members to their repair facilities instead of one of their choice. the best part of the job is when a member tells you how much they appreciate you.
