Good place to work

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
ABM is a good place to work for. If you work for headquarters, if you get an account you are limited to their policies. Good benefits, great experience. Your team will help you if you need any help. Since it is a big company there are to many hand non the same role and that makes itb a little difficult t work with.

Pros

good benefits.

Cons

not much responsivnes

They are a fair company to work for and stand behind their employees.

They do offer benefits to employees and work with you as a person, They company has been around for along time so they know how respect their employees.

Pros

They offer some benefits to employees that work for them.

Cons

Pay is not the best but they due offer overtime if you want to work

Hard work

Good place to work. It really depends on what location you are placed at where I am now in extreme 2.5 million square feet and only 3 technicians not very realistic

Pros

Pay

Cons

Bad worklife

Keep looking… staff overwhelmed, stressed & under compensated. SWEATSHOP

Benefits are extremely high, staff overworked and under compensated. Management has no idea of General Accounting Principals, too many exceptions. People promoted w/o knowledge of the jobs but by who they know. Work in call center settings (open concept), no changes w/Covid. No protection or changes in seating (not sitting 6 ft apart). Extremely high turnover

Cons

Healthcare too high w/less benefits, systems and processes are very manual

We are in a lot of different industries and locations so there are a lot of opportunities.

Being contracted to work at a site has its advantages but you never really feel a part of the company-the job site or ABM. There are so many employees you are never really appreciated as a person and part of the company, even with your local office. Not much direction or guidance for supervisors or mid-managers.

Pros

Good pay for the right positions. Decent benefits

Cons

Work holidays, weekends, lack of support from upper management and always short staffed, takes forever to get someone hired

ABM Industries ratings

My experience with working with ABM industries was good for the longest time other than no communication within the team at all; employees leave within the first few weeks because of several different things that skills not be happening within a company.

Pros

Flexible schedule

Cons

No raises; no benefits, no communication within the team

The workers don’t really matter as long the job get done.

Employees get treated bad there by management, rude insensitive and careless about the employees feelings and needs. Checks always short they take your holidays pay if you work a extra day that week, no benefits and it’s all a lie at the beginning then later you learn the truth. The place needs better management if not it won’t last another year, cause things will fall apart. And me personally I think it’s a great service..shuttle bus from American Airlines to jetblue and from jetblue back to American Airlines. It saves ppl alotta time and bypass security (tsa) witch save you alotta tine to catch your flight.BUT IT’S NOT A GOOD PLACE TO WORK!

Cons

Short breaks, no healthcare

Lack of support from most but not all supervisorsInventory shortage

Lack of praise and appreciation from supervisors would be a plus Pay was good but not worth the daily explaining to pts and nurses of why certain things were missing and the accountability from new employees when they had call offs

Pros

Co worker support (excluding new hires)

Cons

Lack of healthcare and union rep Working through breaks or late breaks

A shady company

Overall shady. If you get any complaints, they're more like accusations. You can work as hard as you can to prevent complaints, there's always at least one- and their "janitorial closets" are always understocked. People quit all the time here, even supervisors, because of bad management. Also if you get sick, you have no sick days. COVID is also unpaid, and they don't get anyone to cover you.

Pros

Flexible schedule, nice customers(sometimes), paid on time

Cons

No paid sick time, poor management

Easy job. The building I work at management sucks

This company could use a complete overhaul. No one cares about you here and there benefits suck. Good pay and easy work. If they offered better benefits and support their employees when they are sick it would be better

Pros

Easy work

Cons

Management

Very bad unprofessional management

Very rude unprofessional management. Would not recommend anyone to work for this company. Over worked and underpay. They expect to much for very little people working in a huge building. HR also very rude and unprofessional. If you are sick they all they say is do what you can. You can not go home or it'll count against you. This is why people are getting sick because they don't care about anyone's health. Very bad drama in this place.

Pros

Nothing

Cons

No vacation or holiday pay no health benefits.

I do not feel challenged at my job. The work is menial, the pay is fair for the work but it is boring, rote and lack of advancement opportunity.

I enjoy the team I am on. Management is hands off and allows you to work as you want to as long as the results are good. The team personalities are enjoyable and I even talk to some outside of work. The work itself is boring and easy, perfect for someone who just wants to relax and take an okay salary and work normal hours with almost no required overtime.

Pros

Pay lines up with required duties, good management style and personalities.

Cons

Boring, no professional advancement assistance.

Bad place to work

Pay is low for everything you have to do, they force you to work overtime even though it isn't mandatory, there's barely any training other than watching a bunch of videos and powerpoints

Be prepared for a “sink or swim” “no crying in baseball” environment with a dash of “hostile-work-environment” thrown in for good measure.

Corp manages through fear and intimidation. Some like/thrive in this environment - arguably it can (and did) make for a highly productive and profitable corporate/exec field staff. However, this came at the expense of many staff’s mental and physical health. Hard industry that has higher than average work demand inherently - be prepared to work late (often) cancel vacations (often) work weekends (often) and if you like celebrating holidays (any) - this is not the company or industry for you.

Pros

Higher than average salaries, competitive bonus structure, 401k matching, high ranking performers rewarded with luxury company-sponsored vacations

Cons

Everyone out for themselves, Highly stressful, often hostile environment with yelling being the norm - not the exception.

Easy job, got paid over time

Parking accounting was easy got paid overtime when I was there. Benefits and pays were low. Only 2 weeks of vacations. Most of good people in my team have already left

Demanding Driving Time

Drive non-stop for 7.45 hours a day. Out of an 8 hour shift. Bathroom breaks are hard to get. Employees all work together. Not a lot of drama. Pay is good.

Pros

Pay and insurance good.

Cons

No time to stretch. Not even a minute.

Great environment

I have been cleaning for ABM since 2018. I have worked both day and night positions. Both positions are enjoyable. Cleaning itself is easy and repetitive, however, there is some physical demand included in the job (lifting heavy trashes, carrying supplies up to 20lbs). If you clean well, management does not try to micromanage you. Management is supportive of employee's schedules and is willing to be flexible with hours. I've noticed for upper management in the Treasure Valley, they try to hire within the company so if you're looking to advance there are opportunities. Wages are great compared to what other janitorial companies in the valley pay, however, the healthcare benefits could be better for cleaners (upper management receives better benefits).

Pros

Wages, flexible hours, supportive management, friendly coworkers, sense of purpose

Cons

Healthcare benefits

Lots of room for improvement in school environment

Even though they gave us a raise when we transitioned from one company to ABM in July, they don't care about their employees. Management doesn't communicate efficiently. No training, even though it was promised. If you don't know how to use the snow equipment, gotta figure it out on your own. They constantly beg for help from morning staff to assist in other schools either because they don't have any afternoon custodians, or not enough afternoon custodians, but never reward you for your work. They lie about holiday pay saying they don't go by the national handbook but rather the state supplement handbook.

Pros

Pay raise

Cons

Low quality health coverage, no training, lack of communication from management, being told your thank you is your paycheck
