Teacher (Current Employee) –  Chicago, ILJuly 6, 2017
Making a difference in Chicago's urban turnaround schools! A leader in school innovation around Chicago's urban and low performing schools. If you are lucky enough to be selected by AUSL, you will learn more here than anywhere else.
Pros
Making a difference.
Cons
This has to be what you want because it takes a lot of work to make a difference.

No room for growth - horrible benefits
Manager (Current Employee) –  Chicago, ILSeptember 28, 2015
AUSL is a political machine and management rewards employees purely on the basis of favoritism and nepotism. Many of the employees work long LONG hours while we are not compensated well or enjoy decent benefits. Turnover is rather high and when someone leaves the org, it takes FOREVER for management to fill that position - sometimes they never do because it is expected that the rest of the team will just "suck it up". Many employees continue to work here because they are committed to the mission of the organization.
Pros
Mission
Cons
mis-management, nepotism, BAD BAD benefits

Worked in an AUSL school
Substitute (Former Employee) –  VariousMarch 1, 2014
They are not looking for good people just cheap people. The management of the schools is not consistent and too many buddies being hired over qualified people. Security personnel teaching the students and parents don't know it.

Protecting the budget at the cost of under achieving students.

It is the luck of the draw
Resident Teacher- Physical Education (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILJuly 18, 2013
After having two very different experiences with this organization I can tell its the luck of the draw. The organization is to big and variable. They want consistency with classroom but the consistency with administration is non existent. Went from the best supervisor you could have, to the most unprofessional, unethical supervisor imaginable. Favoritism is rampant.
