ACCO a top notch organization distinct from the others!
92l2l. Dan Singleton foreman (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CAOctober 27, 2018
I always enjoyed the challenges and the work when I was at ACCO they seam to be the go to company for labs and biotech customers. they always had realistic tasks and never settled on anything that was not the best equipment and the smartest looking installation I really refined my skills as an HVAC installer at ACCo and would have been proud to work my whole career with them But being construction/ remodeling the job gets finished and the layoff comes all too soon!
Pros
Great crew, Management, Interesting thought out planning!
Cons
Could not stay due to slowdown.

Finance (Former Employee) –  Glendale, CASeptember 12, 2018
Poor working conditions, people are crammed one on top of another. Employees are overloaded with work and need to work long hours to keep up. They are only concerned about what they can get from you. RUN, RUN and keep running.

ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR (Current Employee) –  Commerce, CAJuly 16, 2018
My day starts at 5:30 am and ends around 4 p.m. I receive about 45 emails a day. I start my day my answering emails. This usually takes about 3 hours of processing time cards, changing 401k contributions, W-4 revisions, ordering devices such as laptops and iPads. I process pay rate adjustments, layoffs and new hires. I am the liaison between the union field employees (253 employees) and the office (80 employees). I train about 3 foreman a week on how to use laptops, emails, safety management, assessing cost impact to their assigned jobs. I often go to job sites to assist the foreman in organizing files . new hire packets and layoff information.
I help the TI department in troubleshooting if needed

Great company to work for...
Service Sales/Jr. Project Manager (Former Employee) –  CAMay 5, 2018
First and foremost this is an employee owned company (ESOP) which has created a great independent entrepreneurial culture. If you are a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate this is the company for you. Most of senior management is very supportive and has worked on the front lines and worked their way up. The most difficult part of the job is dealing with unionized labor, which creates a very complex necessary part of the job. Not any real commission in the smaller market offices, if you are in a big metro area you should have more luck. The best part of the job is getting those employee stock ownership certificates which essentially acts as a very great 401K plan, if you can make it for the long haul.
Pros
Great culture for Millenials and Gen X'ers which is non-existent in the HVAC/Construction industry.
Cons
Union Labor which is an outdated business model in the smaller markets.

Always encountering a new challenge. Separate departments. Will always work in the same area usually close to home, unless you're helping a different area. PM tickets or proposed jobs. are not to exceed what ever time they where worked up for.

Small Company Big Field
Project Engineer (Current Employee) –  Commerce, CAFebruary 28, 2018
For the division I worked in at ACCO everyone was in over their head. Management only developed short term solutions and nothing long term. No formal training of any kind took place, it was shoot from the hip get things done and learn as they come up.

You are expected to be fully functioning within two weeks and to be able to work independently within a month of being employed.

This division is trying to grow to keep up with the demand of the industry in the area and does not have the management, staff, and resources to support the growth.

Several caddy & lazy employees under poor management
Accounts Receivable Specialist (Former Employee) –  Burbank, CAFebruary 22, 2018
No incentive, poor management, it's who you know there not your work ethic or great work performance. Jealousy and laziness are the norm. Since managers or those in charge have been there for too many years, their is ignorance with power. Company needs to do a full audit on all those in charge.
Pros
Their hours
Cons
Poor management

• Performed cost and schedule analysis for residential and commercial projects while working with various engineers
across business units for projects ranging from $200,000 - $1,500,000

Don't Bump Heads with the Current Clique
Auto CAD Operator (Former Employee) –  San Leandro, CAJuly 2, 2017
ACCO is a company with much potential but is plagued by cliques and nepotism.
ACCO would run so much better with more professionalism and less of the "buddy" system.

Company is good but has areas it can improve on. Overall they are going in the right direction if they remove some of the bad habits and the bad managers out of the way.

Back biting , throat cutting
Service Technician (Former Employee) –  Santa Maria, CASeptember 1, 2016
Worst culture i have ever worked in. Management has zero regard for hard work or ethics , employees are for the most part more worried and occupied with getting ahead that they will cut anyone's throat.
Threatened from day one with DEATH , by an admitted former drug smuggler.
Unless you are adept at this unethical game and have no conscience ,look elsewhere. You may make a living but the ax is only a swing away.
Pros
Check clears
Cons
every breath
