Forklift Driver (Former Employee) –  Compton, CAMarch 19, 2019
I was the only employee besides my manager and the ladies in the office.
They never rushed me nor put pressure on me due to lack of work.
Only think my pay rate was really weak.

Warehouse Specialist/Forklift Operator (Current Employee) –  Fredericksburg, PAMarch 19, 2019
Be prepared for overtime, but that is due to lack of employees. Incentive rare for when an individual gets a production level over 100%. Coworkers are great.
Pros
Incentive pay for high production levels.
Cons
Long work hours.

Ace is Great
Cashier (Former Employee) –  Mount Dora, FLMarch 19, 2019
Ace hardware is a great place to work because the managers are willing to help you move up in the company and the work days were easy enough and eveybody help each other out as needed and your coworkers become like a family to you since you work with only about 7-12 other people.

Horrible management and pay
Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  Raleigh, NCMarch 19, 2019
They don’t appreciate their staff at all, treat them horribly and don’t pay well. They are very cheap and will not give raises or opportunity’s to move up within the company. Ever since they went corporate the have went down hill big time.
Pros
Nice co workers
Cons
Pay, benefits

Ace is the place
District Manager (Former Employee) –  Des Moines, IAMarch 18, 2019
Ace Hardware was a great place to work. I miss the people and team. Benefits were great. As it is a Coop, working with the business owners was a relationship building job that is turning more into a sales job and not necessarily about the growth of the retailers. But business models change.

Not great
Warehouse Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Colorado Springs, COMarch 18, 2019
You have to be in good with certain people to even survive working here. People tend to shun outsiders and newbees its crazy. On top of this management pushes for better numbers and honestly it can get kind of dangerous in the aisles.
Pros
not much

A good growing company that constatntly changes with the times.
Traffic Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Wilton, NYMarch 17, 2019
Working 5 to 6 days a week 10 hours a day with a good bunch of people that all strive to service their customer base. Learned to multi task and make decisions at a fast pace. The hardest part of the job is never feeling caught up on all the tasks at hand. The most enjoyable part of the job is at the end of each day and week knowing that we were able to get our customers what they wanted and needed.
Pros
good hard working people
Cons
Short staffed

It's a job
Warehouse Specialist/Forklift Operator (Former Employee) –  Princeton, ILMarch 17, 2019
The job wasn't that bad, the never ending revolving door was an issue. The building was perpetually understaffed causing near continuous overtime on shifts that make it almost impossible to have a life outside of the job. To get promoted into a supervisors position all you had to do was be drinking buddies with the managers.
Pros
Lots of vacation time
Cons
Horrible working hours, nepotism

A good place when you're a teenager
Cashier (Former Employee) –  Brentwood, CAMarch 15, 2019
The job itself was easy and rewarding. I had a lot of regular customers that would come in and were pleasant to interact with. The hours were great and management scheduled me around my school schedule, which was very helpful. The pay was decent for the job I was performing. Management was hit or miss, sometimes they were helpful and sometimes they were awful to staff. It really depends on the shift you're working and which store you're at.

This particular store was full of nepotism. The owners would have management harass staff to get them to quit, or eventually end up fired - so that they could in return hire a family member to take their place. Owners were also very unaware of the day to day operations in the store. They would come in to just charge a ton of merchandise to their accounts and leave. That was the extent to their participation of the actual store operations.

Overall, most staff was very friendly to work with and the customers were pleasant. However, the owners of this establishment (and they own a few other locations in the area) are not the greatest people to work for. This would be a great job for a student, or someone that wants minimal responsibility.

Productive work place
TEAM WORKER (Former Employee) –  Ahoskie, NCMarch 14, 2019
ACE Hardware is an productive work place. Customers love the environment we provide so they can shop. At ACE you will have several different task per day. You will learn many things if you stick around for a while. Things like how to properly measure and cut different material, such as (wood, carpet, vinyl flooring) and more. To keep customers coming back the store has to be cleaned and conditioned. Most of all customer service what we are known for, when you walk in everyone close by says welcome to ACE how may i help you. Customers also are given a choice of popcorn.

Cashier position is very boring and slow paced
Cashier (Former Employee) –  Topeka, KSMarch 13, 2019
I actually didn't mind working here. If you asked for time off you usually got it. Customers were ok(some were creepy), managers were very kind and understanding. Boring, but overall a nice place to work. Prices are ridiculous.

This job was convenient and appropriate for me when I was in high school even though most of the other staff members were well into their adulthood. The employee discount was a nice bonus.

Fast paced and long overtime hours
Warehouse Material Handler (Former Employee) –  Princeton, ILMarch 13, 2019
Fast paced competitive environment with long overtime days in season, sometimes working on days off. Money is there but you have to want to work to earn it. Benefits are great compared to other similar jobs in the area. Vacation time earned is excellent.
Pros
Discounts from the Ace catalog
Cons
Long daily work hours, sometimes working on days off. Management is so-so.
