This is a true Head Start program. During the federal monitoring review we received in 2013, the lead reviewer said "No other Head Start program is doing what you're doing and every Head Start program SHOULD be doing what you're doing".
We operate like a school with a structured curriculum, etc. We also provide extended day services and operate in the summer because research shows children are more likely to maintain the gains they make throughout the year if they continue school in the summer.

Overall it depends on the director. I would even know how to describe it. There is very little freedom. You can't celebrate holidays, You can't write your own lesson plans. You can't put colored paper on the walls. If that is what head start represents then yes it is head start. Although head start as a prograrm is over 40 years old.
