Great Company but Unstable
Solutions Architect (Former Employee) –  Boston, MAJune 5, 2017
I loved everyone I worked with at Acquia. The work culture was great and so was the benefits. But the management was very out of touch and over stretched.

The hardest part of the job was the lack of clear communication from management about expectations.

The nicest part was the benefits and the people.

Open, flexible but ambitious culture - Great place to work
Marketing Programs Specialist (Current Employee) –  Boston, MAMarch 12, 2017
Acquia is a great place to work. The culture is open and positive, which is something that can't be taken for granted in the workforce. Upper management values their employees and wants to do the best they can to retain them by making them happy. HR runs quarterly surveys on employee satisfaction and C-level execs actually change things to accommodate feedback. Great place to work.
Pros
beautiful office, downtown boston, take as you need it vacation, big aspirations

Great company, great culture, great future
Solutions Architect (Current Employee) –  San Francisco, CADecember 14, 2016
I joined Acquia back in the end of September. My experience after starting jobs at new companies has always been a bit of disappointment. Generally I found the role or the company was not as exciting as I had thought during the interview process. Acquia is the first company I've started at where my expectations were exceeded in every dimension.

Acquia has a very strong business model and is growing rapidly. Acquia works with large companies and organizations to help them be successful with the open source Drupal platform. They compete primarily with Adobe and Sitecore. Acquia's subscription-based business model provides enterprises with a mission critical version of Drupal delivered via a Platform as a Service (PaaS).

The world is moving to both cloud-native and open source platforms, and Acquia is leading the way in the CMS sector. Adobe and Sitecore will increasingly find it difficult to compete with Acquia, explaining the company's 30% growth rate.

I've never worked at a company that had people that were as smart, engaged, and enthusiastic as the people here. Unlike many Silicon Valley tech companies (Acquia is based in Boston), there is little no arrogance and elitism in the company culture. Instead, people are polite, team-oriented, and fun to work with.

Acquia is the best kept secret in Silicon Valley, but as more enterprises adopt the platform to create world-class digital experiences, the company will become better known. It's really a great place to work, I just wish I joined years ago!
Pros
Great company culture, proven business model
Cons
Too late to get substantial stock option packages when joining

FED Subscription Sales & Svcs Lead AE (as DC AVP) (Former Employee) –  DCJune 20, 2016
Good work place with major growth but limit by Open Source. I quickly learnt about selling and deploying Open Source. The company hired many bright people but was inpatient and revenues vs cost were flat and remain flat
Pros
Open Source perceived to be inexpensive
Cons
Open Source incorrectly perceived to be inexpensive, but cost of ownership is more expensive to own and build

Way more style than substance
IT Analyst (Former Employee) –  Boston, MAJune 4, 2016
The best part of Acquia is the other people working there with you. The worst is the management, which for the most part is all talk, no vision or substantive leadership, and a firm commitment to market share growth over tangible innovation or reduction of technical debt.
Pros
Beer in the kitchen if thats important to you.
Cons
Poor management.

Very good company. Overall everyone was very nice. Need to find your niche to fit in though. If you find a good team to be a part of, then you will enjoy the company to the fullest.

Fast-paced, learn new things every day, very hard-working.
Cloud Services Engineer (Tier 1) (Current Employee) –  Burlington, MAFebruary 11, 2015
Typical day for Engineering: Field immediate Sev0/Sev1 issues, manage EC2 instances for large customers, learn new things about core technologies, write/improve scripts/functions/tools.

What I learned: A lot about HPC/Clustering, caching, stack architecture, Puppet automation, Ruby, etc.

Management: Well-intentioned but under duress. Great people otherwise.

Co-workers: Exceptional. Second-to-none in both skill and personality.

Hardest part: Outages.

Most enjoyable: Camaraderie.
Pros
Open workspace, friendly and intelligent people, lots to learn and do.
Cons
Exceptional amount of work to be done, may cause panic-attacks in individuals without coping mechanisms.
