I've been at Acuity for several years, so I've had a front-row seat to the rapid growth and transformation this company has undergone. There has been some growing pains operationally as is to be expected, but the company has really seemed to find its footing in the last year or so, and being part of that process has been immensely satisfying.

Management is fantastic. I feel supported but never micromanaged and enjoy a lot of autonomy. There's a lot of collaboration between departments on projects and it's nice working with smart, kind, and talented people. Being in an industry like ophthalmology gives me "feel good fuzzies" because we're making a huge impact on patient lives by helping them see better, so that's a nice bonus as well.
Pros
great doctors, great work-life balance, good people
Cons
RAPID growth can present its challenges, benefits package could be better

Just don't.
Manager (Current Employee) –  Pasadena, CAJanuary 11, 2019
Acuity is a company that is trying to grow too large too fast. Upper management is incompetent. Their turnover is pushing 50% and they are constantly reorganizing/moving staff around, resulting in nobody having any sense of job security and morale is terrible. Most of the positive reviews in the past few months here are because HR literally had to offer rewards to staff for posting positive reviews. Seriously, I'm not joking. (But consider how few of the 600 or so employees actually took the offer.)

If benefits matter at all to you, you'll find what Acuity offers to be almost hilariously bad. Management staff start out with a pathetic 10 paid days off per year--inclusive of both sick and vacation time. Rank-and-file staff receive 8 or fewer paid days off. Health insurance is ridiculously expensive compared to other companies I've worked at--even just for oneself. The "employer matching" 401k only matches up to a tiny percentage of what you contribute, and you can't even contribute to your own retirement fund for 6 months after you start.

If you're thinking of working at Acuity: just don't.
Pros
You got a paycheck

Revolving door management, laughably terrible benefits

Great Place to Work and Grow!
HR Onboarding Specialist (Current Employee) –  Pasadena, CADecember 3, 2018
Acuity Eye Group is a really great place to be if you are looking to stay in a company that provides many opportunities for promotions. You can tell that upper management want their staff to succeed and they provide as much support as needed to ensure you do so. The company has been around since 2005 and currently going through tremendous growth. The good thing is that even with this growth, they have been able to maintain a family-like work environment where even upper management is just a phone call away. I would definitely recommend working at AEG.
Pros
promotion opportunities, open door policy, friendly doctors

Great place to work!
HR Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Pasadena, CANovember 28, 2018
Acuity is constantly growing but Management has been able maintain a family-like culture. There is definitely room for growth in this company and the pay is fair. The team I work with are always inviting, caring, and helpful. I believe teamwork is a very critical element to anyone's professional growth. Of course, Acuity isn't perfect but what company is?

Worst place to work
Ophthalmic Technician (Former Employee) –  La Mesa, CAOctober 3, 2018
Poor management and favoritism! Lots of turnover they don’t care about their employees. I only worked there for two months and walk-in into a chaotic culture. Employees getting fired, or employees quitting, from the front desk to back office techs. Upper-management not respecting their employees and micromanaging every hour. Please turn back! You will regret it!

Overall, Acuity Eye Group is a good company. It's growing rapidly and going through changes so management isn't quite stable due to the increase of growth.
Pros
Good quality of life and hard working teams

There was a lot of favoritism within the company. No formal training, all new hires just thrown into a sink or swim situation. People in management positions are not always willing to help and train.

Call Center Representative (Former Employee) –  Pasadena, CAJanuary 15, 2019
Supervisor has preferences , most coworkers give you dirty looks & talk to you like if you are stupid . Too much gossip. Call you out in front of everyone instead of talking to you 1 on 1 in the call center room.

Call Center Rep
Call Center Representative (Former Employee) –  Pasadena, CANovember 6, 2018
Worst worst place to work. Very stressful and they expect a new employee to finish a call in less then 6 minutes. Very arrogant employees and everyone gossips and talks behind each others back. Employees think they are better then everyone else although they only make 14 dollars an hour. Training was terrible. I had a very impatient person. I would go home with headaches. Not worth it!!!

Unprofessional Environment
Biller (Former Employee) –  Pasadena, CASeptember 21, 2018
Unprofessional Environment. If you have any experience you are better off looking elsewhere. They have many busy bodies who are out of control. Waste your time here at your own peril.
Pros
You can dress unprofessionally I guess
Cons
Unprofessional
