Be part of the group that is in the trenches doing the grunt work. Management mostly spends their time in meetings with little knowledge of the actual work being put into projects. During quarterly reviews an advancement plan for employees would be extremely nice vs. the "you're doing well pat on the back" experience currently in place. More guidance on where an employee needs to be and how to get there. This is a journey, not a simple trip to the grocery store, so a road map is necessary.
