Garbage

They claim they are 100% employee owned because they make you take their 401K which invests you money in their company. They have a lot of contracts because they underbid, then release people at will. There is serious trust issues, minimal actual leaders and they follow and then break federal guidelines as they see fit. You are never secure in your position and the corporate office will tell you that…constantly. I stayed for 2 years because of the kids. I would highly recommend you stay away from this company at all costs. The corporate office is full of people that make way more than you ever will and they could care less about you. Steer clear!!!

Pros

The kids are fun to work with

Cons

Medical is bad, work hours flex, minimal pay for the job, zero room to advance, a corporate regime that is stiffling, and zero job security

DOL/CDC/OIG Please investigate!!!!

This Company has no sense of direction or integrity!!! This Company lies, bullies, and expects the impossible with little to no resources or support. They have incompetent people in key positions but run away the qualified individuals who really care about the students. These students are not getting served like they should. It's a shame for the staff and the students because everyone is suffering.

Pros

None

Cons

Low Pay, no respect for Staff, not keeping staff and students safe

High stress, low pay

So many problems, so little space! It's cliquey. It's dysfunctional. If you do your job but you're not chummy with management, don't expect to be recognized for a job well done. There's a serious dearth of professionalism and heart in the management team. The work in itself is stressful at times yet it can be rewarding when students become skilled and educated to competitive levels. Sadly, you can't expect the pay to ever be commensurate with your education, experience, or effort. You'll be asked to do more and more work with no added compensation or might even be "voluntold"! Management feels it's okay to yell and curse at staff and threaten them with losing their jobs. Adams & Associates talks about caring for the students but the reality is that it's all about the company's bottom line (maintaining those government contracts to keep the money coming). Students that should not be or don't want to be in the program are coerced (staff are obligated to pressure them) into staying because if they leave, the company will have to pay the federal government back for the money that was allotted for that student. Expect to be disciplined up to terminated for not participating in their campaign to retain the student at all costs! Its just not worth it--look elsewhere if you have that luxury.

Pros

Student achievements

Cons

Stress, low pay, low morale

Staff is great

I love the people I work with but there is little to no opportunity to advance. Training is minimal so be prepared to figure things out on your own and be willing to ask for help. Pay is pretty good but sometimes the job can be unfulfilling.

Pros

Great people

Poor working attitude

Adams and associates is a small family owned company the owner oversees so micro manages the small collection floor. There is no room for growth or commission as the accounts are hand picked based on how the owner feels about you.

Disorganized no true training plan

This place does not appreciate their employees. The management here is self serving. The facility management needs work. There needs to be a clear plan to train oncoming staff.

Pros

Always hiring

Cons

Big turnover, no true direction

It might depend when on the campus you work at

The job corp center in San Marcos was mismanaged and always understaffed. Their expectations of the staff was high and even though you would go above and beyond for the students and the company, they would still know you down as if you weren't doing a good enough job. The higher ups are charismatic and good people for the most part, but they never really know what you're going through in the dorms and never have your back when it matters. They would rather lose hard working staff than to lose a bad student that will not progress in the program. Because job corps are government funded, they want to keep their enrollment rate up so they can continue to receive funding. If you need the money, do it for as long as you can, but know that your sanity and self worth with be tested every day you going into work. You will dread going into work each day especially if you're staff in the male dorms.

Pros

Christmas bonus, advancement opportunities, Plenty of overtime, no degree needed

Cons

High stress, low pay, no support, soul crushing environment

Interesting place to work.

No room for advancement. Compensation is unfair; experienced individuals make less or the same and individuals with no JC experience. Staff pay is as much as a student when they graduate, unless you are in upper management. Unfair practices.

Pros

The students are great and work is rewarding.

Cons

Compensation(pay) horrible, and unfair practices.

Great place to work. Fun environment.

Adams is a great company to work with. I enjoyed working the contract however the performance piece is a deterrent for employees success with the company. The company is diverse and offers training. Tact and professionalism was a struggle at times for some.

Pros

Helping at risk students achieve their goals and obtain an education.

Cons

Professional and tact were not always displayed due to the nature of the job.

Employee Stock Ownership Program

The work atmosphere under contract management of Adams & Associates, Inc. was operated, managed from an authoritarian leadership style. It could have been a very fun and enthusiastic environment; however, the Center Director's wrath set the tone for the work environment, making it very hostile, uncomfortable, unsettling, and miserable. The only silver lining was working with the students who genuinely understood their surroundings and changes taken place, and authentic line staff who genuinely cared for their well being. Managers were not effective as a result of a lack in autonomy within the manner they ran their departments due to the authoritarian culture that trickled down from the Center Director's leadership style.

Pros

Bonus incentive plan

Cons

Authoritarian management style
