Fun Starter job and to learn and grow
Small Business pay rates, aka minimal pay and high expectations. Fun daily work environment. Managed in a chaotic manner. No career advancement, but each employee can learn and grow here.

No clear direction or leadership
After starting at Adjectives I immediately knew something was off. I should have left after the first two days but tried to give the business a chance. What I found was a company with a complete lack of leaderships and direction. In the 3 weeks I worked for the company my schedule was changed over 10 times. I was never actually given an hourly rate? I only found my rate based on my paycheck. I asked 4 people including managers about how the commission structure works and even the manager said "I don't know actually, I just know I got $70 once" I was also told by a manager if the credit card totals are off due to our mis typing it into the system, to start adding additional cents to other clients orders without them knowing to make up the difference. She did say to only do it if I was comfortable? When I was hired, I was told I would be merchandising and helping with sales. However, I was told my a manager that I was not actually allowed to "sell" so I basically just was allowed to stand at the register all day and ring people up. Also on my final paycheck I was not payed anything in commission, even though I know based on the few things people did tell me that I met the commission baseline. I could actually go on and on about this place. I would never recommend this place to anybody including a first time worker.

Fun to shop at, nightmare behind the scenes!
Adjectives Market was a really unique vintage store, making it an interesting work environment with pleasant customers. I met plenty of cool vendors and employees who share the same interests. However, I witnessed a lot of them come and go after facing continuous difficulties with management. It's a small company so beware of the owner who is very involved and vocal about their opinions, often blaming company problems on everyone else. Higher ups love to talk about you behind your back and complain about everything, so don't expect any privacy either. (Basically, a lot of drama) Additionally, don't expect to actually receive commissions for sales like promised in interviews. In fact, there's no way to move up because the starting rate is $10/hr and managers make barely above that. As much potential Adjectives has to be a creative and fun work environment, the toxic leadership will ultimately ruin your experience.

Great place to work
Customers are great here. 90% of the employees are easy to work and get along with. On the job training needs more work as well as an employee handbook so that you can better know what is expected. But this is still a small and new company so I can understand wanting to get other things in order first.

Overall fun place to work within an ever-changing environment.
Adjectives Market is a fantastic place to manage. It is, essentially, a more organized place to shop for antiques or décor as opposed to a typical antique mall. Overall, we are required to work with 60+ individual vendors as well as overseeing our own product incoming to the store. Vendors are always bringing in new, exciting merchandise that usually has a story along with it. There is no sales pressure and it is a friendly environment where everyone feels more like family than coworkers. Unfortunately, being a small business leads to a lack of employees and lower pay than other average retailers.
