A Good place to start out

Working at a City Contract Location is very diverse; Working with the Police, Fire, Public Works, and all the other City Departments. Each departments has its own software, we work with Windows 7 and 10. I have learned a lot about different applications both Fire Department and Police Department specific.
The upper management talks about the importance of employees, I did not feel valued or that I had an avenue for advancement. Working on a team never felt like a team it always felt like a competition with no one to ask for assistance or training. It was always work it out on your own.
The hardest part of the job is the lack of documentation; every "team" I have been part of documentation was either non existent, out of date, or multiple versions located in multiple places that it was a hunt every time it was needed.
The most enjoyable part of the job for me is working with the end users, the end customer. Some can be difficult but it is always satisfying to resolve their issue.

Used to be great

When I started the company was all about the employees. Every benefit was great. Then, the owner of the company retired and the VP took over. As soon as the owner was out the door it became a massive grab of greediness for the executives and they took benefits away from the employees and treated them all like pawns in a crazy game of chess. The pay rate was lackluster and they consistently came up with excuses as to why there were no promotions or pay increases as well as reducing a 401k contribution.

Weak management, lack of leadership , no idea if profitable or not

Not a good company, weak exec management, benefits change with company performance, associates are often terminated without cause, company is unstable, price is excessive, customers are always unhappy with performance, ceo puts $ above all else

Not for the faint of heart

Service Desk Manager (Former Employee) – Schaumburg, IL – August 11, 2018

The company is a factory maintenance/industrial parts repair supplier, they should stay with that. They really do not understand the meaning of "world-class" service desk delivery. You cant be partially in the IT Services industry, it takes a major commitment to be the best and ATS is split in to many directions.
It's not that they don't try, but poor management and lack of focus and direction has led them to underperform and miss SLA's on large contracts. That is recipe for disaster.

Pros

Decent pay and benefits. Nice facility/office in schaumburg.

Cons

Disengaged management and lack of overall leadership.

A good company to utilize and grow your skills with

ATS offers competitive wages and benefits while also offering great career advancement. They are genuinely focused on safety and have great safety training. They also have intra company training courses on skilled trade and job-specific skills.

Large disconnect between corporate office and on-site

Over all they aren't bad to work for. the people are great the pay is fair. There really isn't a lot of opportunity for career growth particularly if you're working on site. As a contract/agency company your career is heavily influenced by your customer. While ATS does annual reviews and discuss career path the company you're working for will ultimately decide your pay, raises and promotions. This makes it very hard to break out into new roles or advance in current roles.

Potential

If they would just do what they say they are going to do it would be a great company to work for. But Management are pencil pushers that don't really know what they are doing. Butt kissers are rewarded while the guys that are actually working and fixing things are being ignored. They want open communication but only if it is praising something. Promise training but don't deliver

Good for college/high school applicants

Worked as a help desk tech. Days at ATS were very routine and not too hard on most days. Training helped understand a lot of the material required to know, in a matter of days. However much of what you learn is done thru working on the job. The hard part is really just dealing with the users on the other end of the phone.

Worked as a contractor and depending on the work load of the company ATS works for, you may not work for a few days, weeks even. Breaks can be shortened depending on the workday.

You do not learn much on the job, and position advancement seems futile, but the coworkers are nice and most are friendly.

poor company to work for

I was requested to do jobs of higher level technicians with out the pay. Always asked to work overtime at the end of shift. Never advanced notice. The management would set impossible and unrealistic goals and make guarantees to the customers that we couldn't fulfill.

Loved my job but had some cons

Loved my job, my hours, and my benefits but the management is what killed it for me. They care more about the way they look then helping out employs. There always trying catch someone doing something wrong then to appreciate what employs did right. They will low ball the heck out of compensation and make excuses about it all day.

Good company for Technician

Working in ATS requires self-discipline and open minded. I learn a lot of stuff on my own pace using company's learning website. the workplace culture is conservative but you can still speak out if you want. the career path is clear depending on what department you are in.

Every year or shortly after a new manager comes in and tries to reinvent the wheel. Never asks questions they just think they are the first ones to try and fix what isn't even broken.

If you don't become good friends with your manager your not going to make it very far. They don't give the employees raises that deserve it but, the employees that are brown nosers or cry wolf constantly. Safety is so non-forgiving that employees are scared to report a paper cut because, they don't want to get fired over it. If you do go to work for ATS watch your back and make sure you suck up to your boss also, don't expect the truth out of any management personal because they are taught at corporate how to lie to their employees.

Do not expect any raises or honesty from management

Worked for the company for several years. You are micromanaged to death and there were no real raises for years while I was there. I would not recommend anyone to work there. My stress level has dropped drastically since abandoning that place for another job. Also if you are very good at what you do expect them to overwhelm you with work others could be doing. The favorites there walk around doing jackchit while a select few do all the actual work. Management was completely inept and dishonest. There is zero progression, this company is not growing. The spot you hire in most likely will be the spot you stay unless you move on to another company. If you are desperate for stop gap work to pay the bills you can do it and be miserable, but that is all it is good for and why they have high turnover.

Disconnected business model, micromanagement extremists

If you like every minute of your life being tracked this is the job for you. If you enjoy working with new faces every month due to extreme turnover rates, this is the job for you. If you enjoy being paid 20% less than the market average, this is the job for you.

This is not the job you want.

Sarcasm aside, raises don't happen, promotions have to be earned by receiving a job offer for another company, management has been out of touch with the requirements of a service industry for years. For a private company turning a profit they certainly focus on the bottom line to the point where requesting a $35 stick of memory is a equated to asking for a gold plated diamond encrusted keyboard.
