Work & Life Balance

Medical Assistant Intern in Arlington, VA

Productive and fun place to work
It is a very organized office, with a great staff. If you are a student and you need to get your feet wet (so to speak) in the medical field, this a great office to do it at. The doctor's are very accommodating and helpful. If you are eager to learn, they are eager to teach. You get real world skills in this practice. You will leave with a world of confidence.

Advent has decayed as a positive hospital culture quite rapidly. When it was Florida Hospital it was nice and had a family culture. But then they changed to AH and it became a “Race for the top” culture via mass production. Managers walk and dont interact w employees. Some managerial employees are always on the lobby chit chatting while nurses are always short staffed on the floors. You may learn quick since they have the process streamed lined. But you’ll be overwhelmed quickly. Its a unsustainable pace if you plan to stay there. Haven’t seen any nurses who retire from the AH system. I guess they want it like that so you move to other hospitals or travel and keep that ever revolving door of fresh nurses with starting GN salaries. They don’t even want experienced nurses to precept... thats quite a demoralizing policy. Anyway... Im planning on leaving soon.

Great people. Most respectful organization of work life balance I have ever worked at. Some higher management is very green so difficult to push high quality products due to lack of ownership, curiosity, and high pleasing attitude to top management. Offers learning opportunities to low level who have to convince bottom-up.
