Africare is a nice workplace with one specificity: all the projects are implemented on the African continent
Program Manager (Former Employee) – Washington, DC – September 1, 2012
Africare was an institution well known in the NGO's community and by USAID. It's a good training ground for its staff who are well equipped for all the aspects of food security & livelihoods interventions. Unfortunately, due to various reasons, many field offices are being closed lately. Any actions to stop or reverse the trend will be very good for the African continent.
Was a great place and institution but high staff turnover led to change in senior leadership. This has affected the work culture.
Country Director (Former Employee) – Washington, DC – March 7, 2018
I would not likely recommend anyone to work under the current leadership at the organization. However, I still believe in and subscribe to the vision, mission and goals of the organization. I hope that the leadership including the board issues can be addressed.
