Business Analyst (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAJanuary 29, 2019
it's very much a "throw everybody in a room and see what gets done" approach. little direction or feedback. you'll complete an assignment with little guidance and then have it sent back to do a different way
Pros
not very demanding
Cons
zero direction from management

Customer Service (Former Employee) –  Miami Beach, FLJanuary 15, 2019
This was truly an amazing work experience, I learned a lot about the true definition of compassion. Definitely an eye opening experience. I worked with a great group of people and I loved the time I invested in being a part of that team.

The Big Name in the Field
Lead Training Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CADecember 26, 2018
For non-profit work, this is a reputable company. It is worth putting your time in to strengthen your reputation in the healthcare field. Do your due diligence to make your mark.
Pros
Being a part of a well-known, large non-profit company.
Cons
You will need to overwork to get noticed.

Pharmacy Technician (Current Employee) –  Fort Lauderdale, FLDecember 15, 2018
honestly management there is horrible and the can absolutely contribute to how your day will be. If it's any consolation the employee you work with makes your day worth while.

Horrible management and high turnovers
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee) –  FloridaDecember 14, 2018
I would not recommend this job to anyone who is not ready to deal with favoritism, a boss who does not properly train but discusses your mistakes or short comings with her “friends/ employees” there is never any consistency the manager comes and goes whenever is on her phone 90% of the day on dating sites and social media. Do not apply here they have been throug over 15 employees in 2 years no one stays except the original people who have been doing dirt with the manager since she started. She doesn’t have good hygiene at times and is a bland person doesn’t like if you don’t attend the functions she chooses or plans. Its great work being done if you can get through it. Good luck
Pros
Events free lunches and the care provided for the patients
Cons
Everything else

Fair place to work
PEER COUNSELOR (Former Employee) –  North Miami Beach, FLDecember 7, 2018
FAIR PLACE TO WORK BUT TOO MUCH CRONYISM.
Besides this, it is a great place to work for it gives you the opportunity to assist low income people getting medical care and medication. You can also help them get food assistance and try to meet other needs they have to keep them healthy
Pros
The opportunity to help low income people get medical care and medication
Cons
cronyism

Certified Medical Assistant (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CANovember 21, 2018
Por management. Theres never a stable nursing manager nor director. Constantly changing employees. Theres lots of favoritism within the company. Your told light travel, not true your traveling more often than not. Employees signal you out if you have a disability. Some employees were good to get along with. Build bonds over time.
Pros
You can apply for different positions within the company. Most patients are wonderful
Cons
Low pay.

Make you wear many hats if you have skills but pay you the lowest hat rate. Also, they were not truthful during the interview regarding the amount of travel the position would entail.
Pros
Could take dog in on Fridays
Cons
Compensation. I was subsidizing my job at AHF.

Employee (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLOctober 25, 2018
Very busy employer. Favoritism is the way to succeed and advance with the company. Management is not the best. Patients are respectful. Change of staff made it hard to ever adapt.

Provider Relations Representative (Former Employee) –  Ft. Lauderale, FLoridaOctober 9, 2018
The most difficult part of the job was lack of employees in the department, I was the only Rep and the only other person in the department was the Director. Once we fully staffed we were able to build a team of providers (PCP and Specialist) to create a robust network for the members at AHF.
Pros
To help members in need
Cons
No room for advancement

Poor managment
Care Manager (Former Employee) –  Fort Lauderdale, FLOctober 8, 2018
This company has a poor management and has the tendency to overload the nurses. The type of job is that each nurse supposes to do 20 assessments a month. In addition, some nurses do the children and pregnant women on top of these 20 patients which increases their work. Management is still unsatisfied.
Pros
Good collaboration with teams
Cons
Poor management

Strong mission but challenging execution
Manager (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CASeptember 28, 2018
Company has a strong mission and has demonstrated success on a national scale. There are some challenges to working here. Notably there is little room for advancement, no annual reviews of current employees, and the environment can be very political. That being said, if you are passionate about non-profit work this company can be a good start and has plenty of resources.
Pros
Little oversight, good mission
Cons
Pay is lower than market rates, senior management

AHF offers a very diverse population. The people are great to work with. Employees work hard, some have no choice because the departments are understaffed. The benefits are very expensive.
