Very productive; not much comradeship
Environmental Monitoring Technician (Current Employee) –  Decatur, ILOctober 11, 2018
My company offers full benefits, guaranteed full time, and overtime hours. Management often treats employees unfairly, and most of the supervisors do not last more than a year or two. The people who work in production and microbiology are very well educated and professional individuals.
Pros
Free coffee, lunch vending machines
Cons
Long hours, late lunch breaks

DISTRIBUTION ASSOCIATE (Former Employee) –  Gurnee, ILSeptember 12, 2018
I enjoyed working with Akorn. Supervisor was excellent. Benefits were good. Good team work & nice crew of people to work with. I really liked picking orders. The hardest part of the job was cross-training due to my disability which created problems for me. I recommend Akorn.
Pros
Good work environment
Cons
Cross-training was a problem for me.

Sanitzation associate 2 (Former Employee) –  Decatur, ILAugust 28, 2018
The hard workers who have years under their belt get fired just as fast as the new people meaning theirs no job security or room for real development in the factory. They make medicine so they are extremely technical when it comes to certain situations. One reason i left was because they had a safety concern in the SOP's and when i pointed it out the person who writes them out began to find problems with me at any and every turn. Egos are a big issue around the place, and the amount of drama behind the scenes is immense.
Pros
Lots of Paid time off, clean workplace, decent pay
Cons
They will steal your Pto Hrs, Teachers Pets, childish antics causing people to lose jobs.

Management is very unprofessional and separate. If I could recommend any improvement it would be a change in management. The employees just don't get their voices heard.

Anonymous (Current Employee) –  AnonymousAugust 15, 2018
This company has a lot of issues as seen in the recent fallout of the merger with FK. Leadership is lost and upper management is chasing butterflies. They have little understanding what it takes to be successful and pressure is the answer to them. They need to relax and let the people they have in-place do the jobs they were hired for instead of constantly changing things.
Pros
None
Cons
Excessive hours, constant change, lack of leadership, pressure when not needed

Production and packaging (Former Employee) –  Decatur, ILAugust 2, 2018
Very dramatic and gossip is out of control. There was a huge lack of discipline to the elder women that worked there that would treat others very bad.
Pros

I wouldn’t recommend working here. Drama oriented. Slow paced. Usually only one day off a week. Limited amount of time off. Never any time to be with family/do things outside of work.

QA Documentation Specialist (Former Employee) –  Decatur, ILMarch 21, 2018
Management frequently seems to scramble, very high-stress job. Most often start at 3rd shift, which is not at all for everyone. Job itself isn't difficult, but a difficult climate.
