Great culture and people
Mental Health Counselor Trainee (Former Employee) - Ocean View Elementary - July 5, 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI really enjoyed the year I spent as a Mental Health Counselor Trainee at AUSD. I met a lot of great people on the staff. I had great supervisors, and I found the teachers, principal and staff to be friendly, collaborative and great to work with. Whenever I had a question, someone was happy to help. I really appreciated that I could set my own schedule, and I really enjoyed working with the children. For me, the two down sides are the very minimal pay as a trainee and the fact that there are no paid jobs available to continue working for AUSD as a counselor after completing an internship.

Mental Health Trainee
Mental Health Trainee (Former Employee) - Albany, CA - July 21, 2018
I was a mental health trainee at an elementary school in Albany for the 2017-2018 school year. The supervision was outstanding. I experienced a lot of growth as a clinician over the course of the year. Overall, it was an outstanding experience.
Pros
Relaxed atmosphere
Cons
Needed to carry too many clients to accumulate enough hours.

Great School District to teach for
Elementary Teacher (Former Employee) - Albany, CA - July 3, 2018
This is an amazing school district and they value their teachers. I only worked part time for them so there is a lot that I can not comment on as I went and did my teaching and left.
Pros
interaction with students and small community
Cons
public policies.

Small distict
Café Associate (Current Employee) - Albany, CA - August 10, 2017
Would like that there were possibility to advance. It's a small district so it makes difficult to move up. Management can be unethical at times. Over working with the kids has kept me from leaving.
Pros
Free lunches great benefit
Cons
Management is no good

Enjoyed Multi-Tasking Assignments
Clerical Aide (Former Employee) - Albany, CA - May 21, 2015
A typical day was receiving oral or written instructions from supervisor. Organizing work according to established procedures. Performs routine office services such as sorting mail, answering the phone, taking messages, input data, and follow up on overdue books and materials. Computes and receives overdue lunch fines. Assists persons in filling out school registration papers. Processes school membership applications and issues membership cards. Maintained records of supplies and materials. Types cards, lists, reports, and other information. Operates computer terminal and auxiliary equipment in routine duties. Reported work accomplished to supervisor.
I learned how to organize and make sure I was able to use time management effectively. The hardest part of the job was that it wasn't full-time work. My co-workers and I always worked together as a team. I would help out in many departments of the school.
Pros
Learning new organzational skills. Helping parents and students
Cons
No lunch break
