There's a reason Shaw's is #3 in a 3 horse race
STORE DIRECTOR (Former Employee) –  MassachusettsNovember 19, 2018
Driven by vendor dollars and no regard for customer's personal well-being. If you paid them enough they would sell cyanide to kids. Whereas the industry growth is in organic/ natural and less ingredients/ local regional sourcing, Albertson's motto more or less is sell it all and let the customer figure out the repurcussions of toxicity and questionable ingredients.
Pros
none
Cons
terrible culture driven by greed.

Albertsons is great, Safeway not so much
Corporate services (Former Employee) –  Boise, IDNovember 19, 2018
Everybody at Albertsons Corp was amazing for the most part. Unfortunately Safeway in Pleasanton is full of people who don't want to work, push off on others, and prefer closing tickets and issues without actually doing the work. This mixed with all of their IT management being remote leads to a pretty toxic working environment for quite a few teams.
Pros
Boise teams are great
Cons
Working with Pleasanton

Teams are overrun
Cloud Architect and Storage Team Lead (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZNovember 13, 2018
The IT teams are overrun with too many projects and tasks. The teams are much too reactionary. The workload and poor resource management creates an inefficient work flow. The IT teams have lost many technically talented employees due to the work conditions.
Pros
Attempting to deploy progressive, automated internal cloud infrastructure

laid back job but low hours
Night Stocker (Current Employee) –  Roseburg, OROctober 29, 2018
Come in early at 10 pm. Break down loads sort products by aisles onto carts then push out all the carts when the pallets are broken down. spot product where it goes and throw product. Then make a bail and face up store till its time to go home. learned to work hard and kick into high gear. laid back job no manager on site. hardest part is working fast when you lack sleep. most enjoyable part is working under laid back environment.
Pros
laid back job, no customers and pay raises
Cons
lack of coworkers, part time hours, and getting others jobs if they don't finish

Not a good company to work for because management sucks
PM (Former Employee) –  Pleasanton, CAOctober 19, 2018
Been with the company for a long time and big lay off this week and we lost 10% of global IT work force. Many of my buddies who worked there for 10, 20 years were given the pink slip too. There are no loyalty to the employees and their pay is not that good anyway (at least 10% less than other high tech position). I was told that one of the guys who worked there for 40+ years were let go too.... that's just sick.

Advice: stop hiring those useless and expensive VP that do nothing at all.
Pros
Looks good on the resume because it is a big company.
Cons
Management is clueless, no direction from upper management.

Colleagues great to work with; management in flux
Senior Technical Team Lead (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZOctober 4, 2018
IT Road Map was very opaque and non-transparent. I did enjoy working in Agile/Scrum development environment. Technical resources were adequate however due to large mergers and acquisitions and lack of data governance, enterprise data was challenging.
Pros
Colleagues, technical resources, work atmosphere
Cons
Management, IT Road Map very disorganized

Opportunity to tackle new technologies and build my skillset. Executive management is out of touch.
Sr Systems Engineer (Current Employee) –  Pleasanton, CAOctober 2, 2018
Work hours were lax. Opportunity to WfH some. Office culture is pretty dry and uninteresting. Corporate management is much more interested in pleasing stockholders than encouraging employees.

Awesome coworkers but horrendous management
Courtesy Clerk (Former Employee) –  Dallas, OROctober 2, 2018
Working here, I loved almost all my coworkers as they were always supportive and helpful. Management was the complete opposite though. The owner of the store has the audacity to say that you don't do your job well when in fact you might be the only one in your position who actually takes initiative when needed. On top of that, if they didn't like you, you got your hours cut so bad it's basically unlivable. Also, the owner of the store basically never did any work, and out of my 9 months of working there not once did I see the owner actually operate a cash register, which should happen fairly regularly. There would also be some weeks where I would open the store, then I would have to come back at midnight to work all the way until the morning because it's technically "a full 8 hours away from work" so you come home from work, sleep, work, and sleep again. Absolutely abysmal and miserable.
Pros
Awesome coworkers
Cons
Horrendous management and hours, not able to make a living

Service Field Technician I (Deployment/Rollout) (Former Employee) –  San Francisco Bay Area, CASeptember 27, 2018
albertsons/safeway look very goo from the outside. the firing process are incredible. Pay is not that great but it is a very good experience. as a field tech, you will do everything related with technology. the bad part is you will need to wait for unknown amount of time to received all the tool and access you need.

This is a horrible place to work, it’s mainly for high school age kids! Management is horrible! There’s room for advancement if your not black! They don’t promote African American!
