10 or 11 hours on average, sometimes more. Terrible work/life balance here. You cannot really have a life outside this job because the hours are too demanding. Plus you have to do closing and opening shifts back to back several times a week. Overall this job isn't really worth the stress and hassle and exceedingly long hours.

8 hours if an issue comes up where he or she is needed to work over. After all you are the manager and you have a responsibility

The shifts for a store manager are highly variable. With a well running store you should expect to work 5 10-hour shifts a week as your minimum time commitment (no break). If your staff is poor (all the hiring/firing is done by the district managers who start right out of college, not by you), you may find your shifts extending past 14 hours several times a week. The other factor to consider is if your staff is not flexible, there is the possibility that you will PERSONALLY be required to cover a 6th shift semi-frequently be that an unexpected open-close or an additional day.
