Once you are hired in the expectation level from managment is outragouswe, you have to learn plu# and scan 80 plus items a minute within your first week, not to mention 10 to 12 hour days, if they call you in early your to be A1 and available to them, anytime any day, encluded scheduled days off.

Good but not for long

Aldi is a good starter job to work. The pay is nice and the hours are long . If you go to school they are flexible with that. Morning shift starts at 5am so be prepared to lift heavy that early. The store closes at 9 but youll probably be there at least an hour and a half afterwards cleaning up and getting ready for the next day.After a while the hours seem to get longer and the customers are always annoying and needy. Be prepared to work your butt off even when other coworker arent. Take personal days to yourself to relax and unwind because its really face paced and stressful.

It was hard I was working 80 hour weeks in 5-6 different locations. We were always understaffed and management was always changing. My manager ended up being a lazy alcoholic who would pass out in the parking lot of the store. She would open up late and forget to schedule efficiently for shifts. Sometimes breaks were forgotten if we were too busy. The pay may be great but the mental toll wasn’t worth it. If you can handle not having a personal life and all the extreme pressure from an unstable fast paced job then apply. I had to leave cause it was too much for me. Good luck

It was stressful, but manageable with the right team. Most days it was understaffed and managers would often send people home when it got slow. It was hard to predict how many hours you were going to have in a given week because of this.

Sometimes have to work in store but have a lot of autonomy in the role as a District Manager. Sometimes you have to be there at 5-6 AM. If you can handle hard work and a crazy schedule then it might be a good fit.

Not for the faint of heart

When you are hired at Aldi, you are trained in every aspect of the job. You will be required to throw truck at 5am one morning and close the store the next day. You will be required to lift anywhere from 5 pounds to 50 pounds and you must do it with speed. In the morning, throwing truck, you must be able to finish a pallet within 30 minutes. Most of these pallets stand about 6 feet tall. If your lucky, you will have some great co-workers. If your really lucky you will have a manager that tells you how much he appreciates your hard work and thanks you for that hard work. Those kinda of managers are few and far between.

I enjoyed my time here, but if you don't plan to do retail for your entire life it's a good stepping stone. The team members you get mostly have your back, and they dont let anyone fall behind.

Aldi needs to work on hiring more people that are right for the job. They need to start caring about their people more. The life balance is non existing. Taking days off is not a thing, god for bid your sick and cant come in you will be working sick. They dont pay shift managers a flat rate you get paid a premium on top of what you already make even though you still get asked to do shift manager tasks when your a "associate" that day. You dont always have shift manager shifts. Its alot of work for the pay you getting. Having the right team, enough people, and a good leader is the key to running a good store.

Hardest part of the job was smiling at customers who took no time in looking to be asked where a product was located. Most fun part of the job was helping those in actual need of assistance where a product is located, and using over the top customer service to make sure everything was acquired and checked out in a speedy fashion, and if help was needed for heavy lifting, help was provided. Management also worked alongside associates on the floor doing the same jobs as everyone else. I learned about how to make every trip worthwhile, that speed and efficiency come with practice and determination, and how important it is for a team to be able to function as a unit, and not as an individual.

Paid Breaks, Great Benefits, No gym membership needed.
Cons
Some close open shifts, occasionally lots of work drama, Sometimes productivity goals are unrealistic.

Poorest management and zero respect for seniority!

In USA ALDI is the upper Dollar Store. The shelves are for the majority of times empty because of the management lack of work: if there’s less merchandise there is less loss. Employees don’t stay because they hire people that give their responsibilities to others. A lot of these employees are very young shift managers that don’t have a professional attitude, they are extremely rude when it’s time to work and the upper management doesn’t care if you have seniority: you are just a number! It’s a shame that this company take the ignorance first and people last. I am very disgusted and disappointed how ALDI is portrayed in the USA.

A typical day at work would consist of being over worked due to call outs or employees who are team oriented. Your achievements or shift that exceeded companies goal will not be recognized or acknowledged. There's no support, superiors will not support you. Customer's complements will not define the good, devoted employee you are. Employees priorities are unbalanced to where everyone seems to compete rather then work as a team, which became harmful because every little thing was reprimanded. Working for this company for over several years doesn't show devotion to superior and termination will be the 1st disciplinary action taking upon the 1st mishap..

Long hours/working on weekends to get work completed with no appreciation from upper mgmt. Standards for promotion depend on who your director is and if they like you. If you are a cute skinny white girl, you will go far. If you are anything else, you have to jump through hoops to get promoted.
