Easy laid back work until upper management shows up.
Mechanic (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZSeptember 12, 2018
Upper management really doesn't know how to interact with lot workers or how to give orders. Can honestly say the yard pretty much runs itself until "upper management" decides to come out and tries to run things differently. The hours are terrible, it really took all of the workers to get together in order to get earlier summer hours so we wouldn't be in over 100° weather all day. The biggest problem is really with management, there's a reason they go through so many employees at what seems like every week.
Pros
Easy work
Cons
Employees are not allowed to bid in the auction without being accused of stealing from the company, Terrible summer hours.

Its all about politics. Or it's a small company and we can do what we want... guys cannot have long hair, but girls can. Guys cannot wear any type of jewelry, but girls can. Guys cannot wear shorts, but girls can.
Pros
Good for the experience

The owner says "We are professionals in an industry with an image problem." I find that to regularly be the case. All City Towing goes to great lengths to do business above board and as professionally and transparently as possible.

Business has many employees but could still be called a small business, Which lets employees get to know their coworkers, managers, and owner on a more personal level.

Corprate (Current Employee) –  Tempe, AZJuly 28, 2018
Overall this is a good place to work. You have to want to challenge yourself to be better for the next day and posses a desire to learn daily. No two days are the same, which keeps things interesting.
Pros
Collaborative environment, open to suggestions
Cons
No paid holidays or time and a half on holidays

Dispatcher and Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  TEMPEJuly 18, 2018
The company is growing I have been here 7 years and have moved through out the company. I love the fast pace of work and no day is the same as the day before. I think that the people here are great and make coming to work very easy. The towing business is not made for everyone but there is never a dull moment in the industry and always something new to learn.

Fast Paced and Growing
Admin (Current Employee) –  Tempe, AZJuly 9, 2018
The company is focused on growth and the upper Management works hard at bringing in new business. There is always something to learn, as new positions open. Benefits, including a 401k, and pay are the best in the towing industry and the policies/procedures keep it structurally organized. This industry does take a certain type of person to handle the day to day stresses, but overall it's still a positive environment with great coworkers that help each other.
Pros
Benefits, wages and management support

Admin (Current Employee) –  Tempe, AZJuly 3, 2018
The towing industry can be tough, and no one is happy to have their vehicle towed, so the job is stressful sometimes. I have always felt supported by management and work with a great team of people. There are always new challenges, things to learn, and opportunities to grow. No company is perfect, but this company is constantly evolving and making improvements. Customer service, safety and professionalism are a high priority.

Call Center/Dispatch/Admin (Current Employee) –  Tempe, AZJuly 2, 2018
Turn over rate is high but the employees that have been around for a long time know what they are doing, are willing to help and are great to work with. Stressful at times with angry customers but that is to be expected. Management and HR are always willing to help. Not a livable wage forever but there is room for advancement/raises.
Pros
Performance based raises/positive management

Unfair, poor management
Human Resources/Payroll Manager (Former Employee) –  Tempe, AZJune 28, 2018
Lack of leadership, management is focused on the wrong doing versus guiding and lead by example. This is no room for advancement and there is to many exceptions made for protected employees meaning favoritizm

Customer Service/Dispatcher/Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZJune 9, 2018
I did like working there. It's a good place to work at once every body gets on the same page. There was a little drama and the people that has been there the longest they think they know everything, but they change alot of ways to handle calls.
Pros
Has gifts and the like to give incentive and bonuses
Cons
Need to help more and try and do what the employees do

Good equipment and overall great company
Tow Truck Operator (Former Employee) –  Tempe, AZJanuary 6, 2018
To sum it up, the company is very organized and safety conscious. the pay is just not up to par. I made 800 to 1000 a week in Nashville, working the same hours here. 2 weeks pay 800.00. not a livable wage for a Tow operator.

Not bad if you need a job and are willing to work.
LIGHT DUTY FLATBED DRIVER (Former Employee) –  Tempe, AZAugust 22, 2017
Pay rate was $25 per tow, with a $500 per week guarantee. Typical week pulled in $600 - $700. I never made only the minimum (working nights and weekends).

Rumors swirled that dispatch played favorites. It's impossible to know for sure, although there were definitely drivers that made more than others and dispatch played a big role in farming out the work. Doesn't matter if it was true or not...being paid by the job inevitably causes bad morale because you're not in control of your paycheck; someone else is. I prefer an hourly wage.

Good training. You mostly work with cops.

I had a manager drive by me once while I was working on a job. He jumped out of his car and grabbed a broom and started helping out. I really like a manager who's not afraid to get his hands dirty.
Pros
They're hiring. Even if you have legal problems.
Cons
Long hours. You're scheduled 50 hous a week and run over all the time, No time-and-a-half. Not sure how that's legal, but it is.
