It was slow paced
Security/Site Manager (Former Employee) –  Portland, ORSeptember 19, 2018
I was hired on as a site manager. I enjoyed working with the people who worked for me. Even though I was the manager, the employees who worked under me, taught me so much in the brief time I was there. The hardest part of the job was waiting for cars to come through to the train yard only because I'd go hours without a single person coming through.
Pros
Employees were great
Cons
A bit too slow

Sometimes Stressful Place to Work
Security Site Manager (Current Employee) –  San Francisco, CAFebruary 15, 2018
Typical day involves screening tenants/vendors and visitors entering the property. Acting as greeter and troubleshooting tenant issues or problems. Keeping Chief Engineer apprised of all problems/issues connected with building operations. The hardest part of the job is being left out of the information loop by the client - frequently not advised of what is happening in/around the building, visitors or events likely to effect Security. Also, lack of adequate support and information from the AlliedUniversal District Office for issues such as training, uniforms and staffing. The most enjoyable part of the job is interacting with tenant employees and locals.
Pros
Relative Job security; Employer name recognition
Cons
Pay difficulties; slow response to requests, often poor communication from support staff to employees.

I worked at for this company for several years. It was a very forward thinking company that employed internal training to a very high degree.
This company no longer exists as it was part of a merger.

Account/Site Manager (Current Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 30, 2017
Allied Universal is a good company that treats their employees well. The only problem I have with Allied is that their pay rate is low. The company from the top down is well organized and their treatment of employees is above average.

Avoid This Company
Security Site Manager (Former Employee) –  Sanford, FLOctober 29, 2017
This company will turn and burn you. You are a number to them. They brag about being the largest security company in America. They will replace you in a heart beat. The pay is very low but they expect you to work like they pay you 6 times the rate they pay you. The human recourses department backs the client and burns the employees regardless if the employee is right. They company is only about placing large amounts of money in their pocket.
Pros
not sure
Cons
low pay, poor company human resources, lack of caring, very low pay

I wouldn't say contract security is for me. But it may be for someone going to school full time. Its very boring and sometimes you feel like you didn't do much that day

Always room for growth. After the acquisition of Allied Barton, Allied Universal became a much bigger company, which means you can transfer from city to city if you want to relocate (or need to relocate).
I can't speak for all sites

Stressful job lacking necessary job materials and personal time
Security Receptionist (Sites Manager) (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CAJune 8, 2017
I was rewarded for my competence with 3 raises two tied to management promotions. However, the company lacks entry level training requirements and adequate staffing. Employee turnover forces many to work excessive hours to meet scheduling and client expectations.
Pros
Quick advancement
Cons
Excessive overtime; Limited access to needed work materials

If the shifts were fully staffed. And the officers would patrol without having tunnel vision. Lunches could be a little longer. Officers should work other shifts.

Site Supervisor/Account Manager (Former Employee) –  Greenville, NCJuly 12, 2016
Basically this company is money oriented for the CEO and other owners of the business. They care nothing about their employees. They will lie and mix words in order to justify their incompetence. Would not recommend this company to anyone.

This is a job that is literally just to get by. They pay ok but not the best in security. They do not regularly schedule employees hours and it was very frustrating.
