Productive workplace
Great management team. Productive, sales oriented environment. Primarily telephone based sales. Rewarded for high sales productivity. No health insurance.

Sales sales sales! Pushing products on people that do not want them. Low commission percentages. Insurance world goes one of two ways for you. You thrive or you completely fail.

I started at Allstate with high hopes and promises that it would be a great company to work for. The training was just okay. If you aren’t self sufficient enough to teach yourself the material it won’t work for you. Transition from training to being a productive sales agent was less than smooth. Often times management seems overworked and spread too thin to properly support their staff. The bonus structure was initially great. However, they completely changed it which was disappointing and led to several people I knew seeking positions with other companies. I was hired with about 30-35 other people and in less than a year only a few of us remain. The turnover rate is high, which I attribute to their poor treatment of employees. They constantly push overtime and will make it mandatory when deemed necessary. On a positive note I would say the sales goals are manageable, benefits are great, and the PTO is awesome. They also do a lot of internal hiring and transferring so if one thing doesn’t work you may be able to find a better fit in another department. Bottom line: If you want to work here you must be self reliant, comfortable pushing sales/closing, handle stress well, and be willing to put in a ton of work for just an average salary. It isn’t the worst place to start but I don’t see it being a lifelong career choice.

love the people I work with and the customers are the highlight of my day. Mark is a great boss and has always worked with me if I ever need off for my family or vacation time.

You can definitely make a decent living if you work hard by networking and generating leads. There are no benefits of PTO until you have worked there for a year. But overall it's not a bad job.
