Intern in Montana
on May 20, 2021
Altacare provides internships usually through working as a behaviorist. It's a great way to know the field and the CSCT program as administered by OPI, State of Montana. The teams are therapist/behaviorist teams. There is freedom to practice different modalities. You will learn a lot about child mental health presentations, just by observation.Altacare is part of a larger company called Acadia. Look them up, too.Pay is improving due to competition and worker shortages.Considering workplace culture, there can be a lot of problems on teams and with teams. You can be fortunate to be treated well by the therapist you work with, or not. Supervisors are not on site so a lot occurs that supervisors are unaware of and do not assuage. Take care. The hardest part of the job is knowing the difficult circumstances of some clients, and the best part is helping them with coping skills and watching them grow to become more confident.
CSCT Therapist in Butte, MT

Shady and unethical practices in clinical supervision were consistently noted by this therapist. Very unhealthy communication style from management to employees. Toxic and unsupportive work environment.
Behavioral Intervention Specialist in Butte, MT

The people are amazing, job itself is meaningful and the benefits are great. Only downside is pay it's a chunk lower then the state average right now.
Therapist in Bozeman, MT

CSCT jobs in general are difficult but rewarding. I am not really sure if working for Altacare would be any different than any other contractor. I enjoyed working in a school but the pressure to meet units/productivity was stressful. I also worked unpaid hours relatively often when I was not able to keep up with documentation.
Behavioral Intervention Specialist in Fort Shaw, MT

not a great or even good company to work for!! they make their money by getting contracts from schools and will back the school before they back you which is really sad they say the main concern is the kids but it's really the money would not recommend wasting your time and 10 years of your life working for this company because they won't hesitate to throw you under the bus !!!!!!!
