An Introduction to Altman Plants
Altman Plants is a family-owned wholesale plant nursery headquartered in Vista, California. Started in 1975 by Ken and Deena Altman, as a cactus and succulent collection, the company has grown to be an industry leader with several production nurseries and distribution centers across the United States.

Altman Plants is very happy to announce Jose Reyes as our new DSL for North San Diego district. Jose has been with the company for 5 years. He started as a merchandiser and quickly moved up to Sales Rep. He has been doing one of the highest volume stores in the North San Diego. Over the years he has achieved many awards for his outstanding job! I am very proud to have been apart of Jose’s journey and look forward to see what he can do in this new position! Congratulations to Chris Lombardi on his promotion to Divisional Field Sales Manager!
Chris will be serving as one of six Divisional Field Sales Managers across the company. Chris came to Altman Plants about 5 years ago, and worked with the team in the Texas Gulf region as a Regional Sales Lead, before serving the past two seasons as Regional Manager. He will direct the TAP service program for us nationally, and will be working out of the Texas Gulf area. The Altman Plants TAP program provides service to over 800 garden centers throughout Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas.
Altman Specialty Plants Scholarship Program
The Altman Family Scholarship was created in 2015 by Ken and Deena. The scholarship seeks to support improvement in horticulture education and research by investing in outstanding, young industry professionals.
Mary Lewis of the University of Georgia and Mason Marshall of Texas A&M University are the Altman Family Scholars for 2021, each receiving a $5,400 scholarship.
The American Floral Endowment has articles about Mason and Mary and their scholarly pursuits and passions on its website. Definitely worth a read and inspiring to learn about the interests and goals of two very bright, research-focused plant and flower fanatics.
