Amalgamated Sugar Company produces sugar from the sugarbeets grown by the 700+ members of our farmer-owned cooperative. Amalgamated Sugar operates processing plants in Nampa, Twin Falls, and Paul, Idaho. Amalgamated Sugar is the second-largest manufacturer of sugar from sugarbeets in the United States

and sells sugar across the country through our national sales company, National Sugar Marketing LLC.

Sugarbeet factories are large-scale, heavy industrial facilities. Operating 24/7, the factories process sugarbeets during the fall and winter, produce sugar 11 months per year and operate molasses separators year-round. Sugarbeets are processed into both refined sugar and animal feed products.

My experience at Amalgamated Sugar has been mostly positive. My co-workers are nice and the work is straight forward, but quality assurance testing is boring.

Amalgamated was a great company to work for as someone with only a few years of experience. You can get experience in so many areas which has been a benefit for my professional career. However, corporate level management changed during my time with the company and it has been downhill since for company culture, morale and respect. The local management team was also changed during this time and the new management structure is not good. Managements’ ego blurs the vision of the company. There is little respect for employees and advancement is not an option unless you know someone in the management structure. Corporate management answers to no one and they know it. Unfortunately the growers are only shown the “show” of the company. They don’t see the “behind the scenes” day-to-day operation of the company. If they did, they would be very disappointed. It is unfortunate because great talent leaves the company as soon as they understand the culture and see few paths for advancement.

Cons.......Rotating shifts days then nights could be the worst schedule on earth for a job. Being a great worker gets u no where there it's more about axx kissing to get moved up. Pros........ good starting pay and 7 days off straight and the end of each month.
