Productive but a stale work environment

Average compensation with great health benefits. Very few team building and group activities. Management is not transparent with the companies progress and activities.

It is a decent place to work for. Good vacation policy , good medical insurance, good salary. The work/life balance really depends on what team you work for but in general it is not the best.

Really bottom line focused

While I enjoyed my time at Amdocs, it isn't for everyone. They are a bottom line focused company and as such making revenue targets is a big pressure point for anyone in management. Long hours are expected and with the company spanning every time-zone it is the norm to start early and end late. They have one of the best benefits packages for employees out there and really do care about the health of the employees. When people went to offices, they were fully stocked with all kinds of food items and recreational activities for break time.

Pros

Stocked kitchens, Great healthcare

Cons

Long hours

Flexible hours, flexible location

Unless you role is set in predefined shifts, the working day is long and hours are not always convenience. In part because of the time zone and company spread. In part because of the work load. Not for someone who absolutely values work-life balance. There are good opportunities for horizontal growth and working in different roles over your career in the company

Pros

Flexible hours

Cons

Long hours, frequent weekend work

Poor and clueless leadership

Leadership in Israel stubbornly refuses to listen to the local managers with strong knowledge and years of experience within the company. Since upper management doesn't understand the highly technical nature and the US legal requirements of my position, I have received little support or recognition for my hard work. My responsibilities are at a management level, though my title and pay don't reflect that, and with numerous acquisitions, the amount of work has become completely unmanageable.

Pros

Better health insurance than most companies. Free snacks, breakfast and lunch items.

Cons

Raises and bonuses very poor for many years. Amount of my work has doubled in last 5 years.

Day to day

Pay & benefitsNo promotions, only a portion of the staff gets an annual raise or bonus so its sometimes years before you see a 2% raise or a 8-10% bonusJob security and advancementOne class in 5 years and promotions only for select employees.Managementvery little involvement beyond direct manager and next to zero communication.Cultureevery little decision takes a ton of approvals from around the globe and it can take months for a approval.OverallThe work and the people you work with are the best part. Benefits are marginal and the cost seams to go up nearly every year. Difficult to navigate the company's redtape and approval process. It seams to take a VP level or higher to accomplish even the smallest things. They waste a lot of money being paranoid rather than belive in the design of the equipment and staff.Your lead to belive your the most important assett until it comes time to please the stock holders and board of directors, then your a cost savings and your cut. Unless your a part of the correct group then your safe from anything.

Basically, a sweatshop with job security but few growth opportunities

PROs: Pretty good benefits; a business model and set of services that are very interesting and at the intersection of many industries in the digital economy; interesting technology challenges CONs: Long hours are the norm (on some teams, hours are horrifically long); Old tech (e.g., QTP/UFT) and non-best practices (e.g., water fall rather than agile, black box testing cut off from development teams) which aren't great bad to have on your resume; reliance on tools and throwing bodies at problems rather than develop people's skills; serious nepotism--good luck rising through the ranks if you're not Indian or Israeli and if you don't understand Hindi expect to not understand most workplace discussions around you (HQ keeps sending out reminders telling people speak English in the office to stop leaving people out but it has no effect)

Trapped in a horror film

Imagine you are one of the heros in a horror film that doesn’t know it’s a horror film yet. Everything offered sounds great. Good benefits, flexible hours, working from home. You start into your adventure with high hopes meeting your band of teammates. Then you hear whispers of ‘not enough work’ and before you can turn to see where it’s coming from, you’ve lost a few teammates. ‘It’ll be okay’ you think and continue forward, picking up their slack, putting in extra hours. The team splits up to investigate different areas. By accident you trigger a pile of work to land on you, fixing incomplete or failed projects. Just when you think you are done, more ‘broken’ projects appear, as if they are multiplying by themselves. Paychecks seem to not always match, maybe math is broke now too. You look to your teammates for advice, but only find hollowed out eyes staring back from even more piles of never-ending ‘broken’ projects. As you continue to search for the solution to this twisted puzzle, you begin to question your sanity. You hear the voice of your manager in the distance. Opening your mouth to try to scream for help, but your voice fails you. An overwhelming fear you may lose your job if you speak up sinks in. You begin to feel the knives in your back, not sure when they first appeared. Maybe one day your manager will appreciate you the same way they appreciate your foreign counterparts. Maybe one day you’ll find the escape route.

Not a fun or fair place to work.

Company constantly looks to replace workers with lower salaried workers from out of country. No long term growth opportunities for US workers. My company was acquired by Amdocs & all benefits were cut, annual layoffs put into place. Zero job security. Raises & bonuses at the complete discretion of Upper mgmt. eliminating home based workers

Flexible working hours

Not much to say, average company, benefits are standard, based lately on a lot of outsourcing and new buying of companies. Not as exciting as it used back when wireless was the big thing
