Growing pains and lack of leadership
IT (Former Employee) –  Orange, CAMay 14, 2018
Company grew too fast and is now looking to cut back. Exec Team lacks leadership and communicated poorly. Hard to determine what is really expected of employees given poor communication and lack of a strategic plan.

Senior Case Processor (Current Employee) –  Austin, TXMay 13, 2018
Fast paced, numbers based role. Work can be done independently but there is no flexibility in the work schedule. Training is being developed to be more inclusive.
Pros
Independent pipeline, high levels of autonomy in work.
Cons
Stressful, numbers based environment.

Folsom office
Loan Officer (Former Employee) –  Folsom, CAMay 11, 2018
Training was a complete waste of time.(4 to 5 weeks @ min wadge) Could have been on phone attempting to make money after one week. All leads are people with bad credit who couldn't get a reverse mort. Which means most cant qualify for refinance. Such a waste of time. But will pay for your license that is useful for the next job!
Pros
Get license! for next job!
Cons
Really bad leads!

Sr. Processor (Former Employee) –  Orange, CAApril 17, 2018
Initially working at AAG was great! They reel you in with a fun workplace, employee appreciation, and competitive benefits. Eventually they forgot to appreciate their employees and it turned into a sweat shop while underpaying their employees. I've been in the industry for a very long time and being a processor does mean hard work and long hours at times. All processors know this. The issue at AAG is they know this and will set unrealistic monthly goals, while underpaying you. You make more money in overtime than the bonus/comp plan they offer. Management questions why their employees constantly do not meet goal, but they fail to listen to the pleads of help their employees request and the suggestions the employees give to help business. Management does not seem to know what they are doing and refuse to listen to their employees. The benefits are terrible. They provide close to no time off. The CEO is a great guy with great intentions, but the people between the CEO to us regular employees are terrible.

Core values are there, not enforced
Manager (Former Employee) –  Orange, CAMarch 14, 2018
The organization is not bad. From the top they are serious about being a contributor to their community. Lots of charitable work. Lots of volunteering. Meals on wheels, caroling during the holidays for seniors, etc...
Internally there's a tremendous lack of knowledge, really at all levels. There are meetings about meetings they're going to have. While a collaborative environment is great, it can be taken too far. Particularly when all major decisions are made by committee giving voice to individuals that lack knowledge necessary to contribute meaningfully to the decision making. There comes a time when it is necessary to recruit the talent you need and allow them to fulfill the expectations you have with the skills you recruited them for. Additionally there are certain job functions that are simply devoid of any accountability. Processes get rolled out with no enforcement mechanisms. For those same job functions there are no consequences for doing the job poorly or not knowing how to do the job.
The benefits are decent, and even better they're cheap.
Unfortunately the excessively collaborative environment often results in those with the greatest skills or knowledge leaving the company in frustration.
Pros
Benefits are cheap, significant philanthropy.
Cons
Poor decision making and staffing choices.

Good company to work for. They believe in the work/life balance. They give you a lot of training and have plenty of resources to help you succeed. But like any sales job, you are there to perform.

It was a fun place to work. They treated their employees good with bonus, lunch and appreciation events. However there was no room for growth and the benefits weren't great.

Fun Environment, However the Management makes it very Stressful
Senior Loan Processor (Former Employee) –  Orange, CAFebruary 27, 2018
Management changed therefore, the company changed. The hours become longer 10+ hours a day, and therefore the stress became more intense. Especially if you were a Top Processor.

Private (Former Employee) –  Orange, CAFebruary 7, 2018
I loved the people, but the management was now well trained and do not expect to get paid the average salary. The culture is fun and they show appreciation in the continual activities for employees to participate in; spelling bee, ice-cream social, potlucks, and holiday party.

Worst company in the industry!
Processor (Former Employee) –  Orange, CADecember 19, 2017
The management is the worst! They have no idea what they are doing. If your a manager they will allow you to hire your spouse to be a manager that’s how bad it is. No area for advancement. The worst part is you can irk so hard and it goes unnoticed.
Pros
Activities
Cons

Too many hurdles
Inside Sales Advisor (Former Employee) –  Orange, CADecember 13, 2017
Good people, good training, decent product, inbound leads, enjoyed helping those who wanted to help themselves.

However, working with the senior demographic has several challenges....most are too paranoid to make up their minds even if it is a great deal for them;you'll hear their sad stories all day which includes the latest family ills and deaths; you'll also deal with a sales cycle that is too long and kills many deals. Way too many hurdles in order to make a good income especially with more and more Federal regulations being added to the books each year.

This is an emotionally draining job that will require you to maximize your inner resources to the nth degree. AAG strives to provide the work life balance but you'll eat at your desk most days.

Some reps are making great money but most are not. Great company but a tough demographic and a product that has too much "red tape" connected to it.
Pros
Good workplace culture
Cons
Product has too much red tape

It was okay.
Loan Officer (Former Employee) –  Orange, CADecember 12, 2017
I appreciate them training me and getting me licensed. THe workplace environment is good, made some good friends. But the processing there is extremely slow. Many times, files are only touched once every two weeks. If you want to make money quickly, this is NOT the place to go.

But overall, i hold no ill will towards AAG, i think they are ethical and responsible for the most part. But I heard too many instances of files not being handled correctly, and even incorrect documents being sent to borrowers.
Pros
relaxed environment, nice coworkers.
Cons
Processing times.

Be very careful
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Orange, CA 92868November 21, 2017
If your reading this, all I can say is to tread lightly and always watch your back. This is a company where even the employees are loosing faith in its name. Constant firing and replacement goes on here, so if you land the job, be prepared to have a second job at the ready just in case. Turn over is bad for employees but not for management that don't know a thing about the business. Also to note, benefits are horrible for those with families but can be great when you are single. HR ONLY respects and cares for management not for its employees. Sales reps take advantage of the customers and treat the elderly with such disrespect, I'm surprised a lawsuit hasn't occurred. This company used to be about the customers and the employees and their families, but as of lately they have lost sight of that. I can only hope they get back to their roots before another business out shines them.
Pros
I found better
Cons
Poor management, poor HR reps, poor customer service.

Reverse Mortgage Loan Officer (Current Employee) –  Kennesaw, GANovember 17, 2017
This company is designed for you to never get ahead. Some months you'll make money and some you wont. By some money I mean you'll receive an actual paycheck to support your bills.
The management is very relaxed and the teammates are great so if you want a fairly lazy day, apply now. If you intend to make money or have actual career goals I suggest you look elsewhere.
Pros
Relaxed culture
Cons
Low Compensation

Motivating & Productive workplace with a caring support system
Licensed Mortgage Loan Originator (Former Employee) –  Anaheim, CANovember 13, 2017
A typical day at the office begins with a team huddle in which management makes it a point to acknowledge everyones individual strengths and how we make it a whole as a company. I learned extensive background information on the FHA guidelines and steps needed to take in the mortgage industry towards a successful future in not only operations but sales as well.
Management can be a bit understaffed at times due to the rapid progression of the company but has many avenues for one to get their questions answered at all times. As a whole, work place culture is cheerful with positivity instilled in all its employees through work place activities. As enjoyable work place activities can be it can also be tough at times when you have deadlines to meet in between trying to focus and relax.
Pros
Amazing support system for employees
Cons
Management can be understaffed at times

They really are knowledgeable in exploiting young people who are starting their careers. There is no advancement internally. Young people are treated poorly here. If you like training your boss sign up!
