American Cruise Lines
American Cruise Lines Deckhand Review
Friendly coworkers, but little opportunity for shore.
Deckhand (Former Employee) - Mississippi - July 31, 2021
Friendly coworkers to work with but some struggling problems with one being out for themselves. There are some safety concerns that occurred during the operations of mooring and an injury caused by a higher-up associate to a fellow deckhand. Thus prompted for resignation.
Pros
Teamwork, friendly environment.
Cons
Safety concerns, liars, decreasing care of coworkers.

Worth a try, Not for feint of heart
Deckhand (Former Employee) - Marquette, MI - April 28, 2022
I completed a 25-week contract with the company with no breaks in between:12-hour days 7 days a week. Deckhand work is pretty simple, rotating every two hours or so depending on the ship assigned. You will help with landings of the boat, assist with security and emergency situations, and deliver shipments for the cruises just to name a few things. If you have no attachments this can be a good way to see parts of the United States and potential networking. I also recommend completing an offseason if available, much better than the crusing season. Great option if you need seatime since it is 1.5x a day too.

The Marine side is just ran terrible. Advancement is terrible. Everyone just talks about how much they Hate it. No benefits. You work seven days a week for people who really don't appreciate you.

Awful Company
Outdated, unfair, and ignorant views on personal use of medicine. No empathy for employees who require medication to be in their best health. Do not ever work here this company is backwards and a failure..
