Great job for someone needing flexible self-set schedule
Retail Merchandiser (Former Employee) –  Cleveland, OHJune 17, 2019
The most enjoyable part of the job was the creativity of making gift bags. The hardest part of the job was the demanding holiday schedule, especially Mother's Day and the day after Christmas.

Retail Merchandiser (Current Employee) –  Ash Flat, ARApril 12, 2019
Management is responsive and helpful. Excellent, and ongoing training. You get paid your hourly wage for travel between stores, or for travel outside your route, to help out with new store openings or revisions, if you volunteer to go. Set your own schedule 90% of the time. Required visits are rare: On the day after a holiday, to change out displays. Otherwise, you pick which days to work, can be any time of day when the store is open, of course. You have to make friends with each store’s employees. Hours are restricted. Can be anywhere from 6 to 20+ hours per week. Not a primary job to pay all bills. For supplemental income only. No co-workers, other than each store’s employees, who you must interact with. You have a route, with stores near your home. Use your own car, start at one store, then get paid your hourly wage for travel to the next store. Each visit lasts an average of 2 hours. Great job for someone who needs extra income. You can visit your stores when convenient for you, during their store hours, of course.
Pros
Flexible hours, great add-on if you already work.
Cons
Few hours during non-holiday months (Summertime).

Learned good retail skills, but management was lacking
Retail Merchandiser (Former Employee) –  Cleveland, OHMarch 15, 2019
They expect a lot for a minimum wage job. They want multiple locations worked at with not enough time to do what they request. I moved on to work for their competitor and it is a massive difference in management, pay, and expectations were in line with hours given.
Pros
Flexible hours
Cons
Poor management and pay. Usually 16 hours a week.

Working only stores with deliveries, restocking all card cabinets and gift wrap of orders. pulling tickets of empty pockets, crediting out out of season products building displays, throwing all trash away.submitting on computer hours worked and inputting orders.
Management is not good doesn't work with employees , expected to place orders with not enough given hours, no room for advancement .Most enjoyable thing is helping costumers finding that perfect card for a loved one
Pros
Helping costumers
Cons
No hours for working products, taking hours away

Retail Merchandiser (Current Employee) –  NJJanuary 29, 2019
Good company to work for but recent changes seem to indicate a recent management change may take the company in a different direction. Obvious cost cutting measures are impacting various aspects of the job and reducing the amount of work available. Ability to work a flexible schedule is great but the hours worked each week seem to be getting reduced all the time. Getting harder to stay when you have 20-30 hours a week during seasonal product changeovers from one holiday to the next i.e. Easter to Mother's Day but the rest of time you may have as few as 5 hours a week unless you are fortunate enough to manage a larger account such as Walmart.
Pros
Flexible
Cons
Unreliable hours, low starting pay for the job/area

Retail Merchandiser (Current Employee) –  MissouriOctober 10, 2018
This job is good if you are not trying to support yourself or have another job in addition. Depending on your area you may work 4-6 hours a week. Down side if you work in a big discount store they can be hard to deal with when securing space for product.
Pros
great friendly people to work with

not enough hours

Retail Merchandiser (Former Employee) –  Clearwater, FLMarch 12, 2018
Expectations in the hours they give you are unrealistic, for example taking down valentines day, and putting up easter, st patricks day, passover section and secretaries section. keep up with everday orders, filling cards and party items. expected to do this in 10.10 hours. Was chastized in the middle of the card isle with customers there because the above was not done, by the district manager. So embarased and humiliated. Hours are not that flexible either.

none

low pay

Great job for stay at home mom or someone taking care of elderly
Part-time Retail Merchandiser (Current Employee) –  Charlotte, NCDecember 27, 2017
Great place to work if you need flexible hours for young children or elderly parents. Must be able to work independently as there is not a supervisor or manager with you at all times. Hours and activities are posted at the beginning of the week and employees are expected to complete and handle customer/store management issues on their own. The hardest part of the job can be the toll it takes on you physically as it is vendor work so you spend a lot of time on the sales floor. The most enjoyable part of the job is the interaction with shoppers and the other employees at each store.
Pros
Very flexible schedule
Cons
Lower pay and can be physically challenging
