Creative, Professional and Bold!
While working at API, I not only added to the teams creative endeavors (exhibition deliverables, social media and web ad tiles). I was excited to learn from the team, leadership of the department was very influential to a successful outcome!

Terrible management - stay away!
The management was terrible and they did not pay women what they should compared to the men.
Loved the job but I 100% left because of management. They have no ethics and no values.

Nice place to work
The organization overall is a really good place to work. Executive staff, for the most part, seems to care somewhat about staff needs (including conducting assessments surveys and trying to address issues. One-day-per-week telework policy, excellent health and retirement benefits, including pension, decent pay, offices and workstations in current location offer privacy for productivity. Impending move to new location with open floor plan is universally dreaded and expected to decrease happiness and productivity, but in reality this remains to be seen. Mid-level managers in the company overall are good, except mine shows clear favoritism towards certain staff, is not transparent, and undermines those he doesn't prefer; however, he is not a reflection of the overall organization.
Pros
Great benefits, team-building opportunities, executives address many staff concerns
Cons
Little autonomy, some managers show favoritism, moving to open floor plan

Once you've bought into the mission, you feel as if you are following a higher calling
API is a non-profit trade association. It supports the oil and gas industry through advocacy and safety through certification programs, training, events, etc. I worked there for nearly 19 years. Great people, interesting work, multitude of experiences, great benefits, good salary.
It is a Washington DC based organization. Politics and optics rule.
Pros
Life experiences, travel, benefits, growth
Cons
Politics and obsession with optics and risk.
