I worked 7 years, got passed up for day shift because I knew we were desperate for nurses. When I hit the floor I was running d/t short staffed. Had a pretty good management crew until DNS left which left me, ADON and another manager to pick up shifts all the time.New DNS I watched her walk by 5 call lights without acknowledging them as I was helping my 2 CNAS which I should have had 3 take care of 5 other call lights. A lot of times I had to choose between patient care or charting. I’d start at 2pm an some nites not get home till 3am. I STRESS THIS “RUN”!
How long does it take to get hired from start to finish at American Senior Communities? What are the steps along the way?
Mailed my resume from another state. Called in 2-3 days after it should have arrived at their facility. They wanted me to start as soon as my background check was done, and wasn't happy I wanted to give a 2 week notice to current employer.
What advice would you give the CEO of American Senior Communities about how to improve it?
Cut down on the amount of hoops building must jump thru for everything. Also have employee events like you do at home office for buildings. Show employees you can about them, they are not just another number from the corporate level.
face paced and not enough caregivers to fully work and give best care possible
Asc buildings are terrible places to work. the residents are very poorly cared for. the administrative staff does not know what truly goes on down on the floor or cares. the staff lies and pushes new employees away by not wanting to help.. employees are rude, loud, constantly on their cell phones when supposed to be working. the administrative staff only comes out of their office and acts like they care when corporate people are there or state is in the building, the people that are cared for are the people who have family looking out for them. the rooms and residents are dirty, I have been in eight asc buildings only two of the buildings have been decent.
