Administrative Coordinator (Former Employee) - Thousand Oaks, CA - May 9, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Too many layoffs. Will find a reason to let an employee go due to age. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Worrying about being laid off. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Good. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Paperwork, meetings, not enough AC's.

The culture of the work place is built up upon respect and supporting each other. The work load can get heavy sometimes, but always you would find someone to help. Pay is not the best, but benefits are good!

Well-structured solid company. Great learning opportunity.
Scientist (Current Employee) - Massachusetts - April 25, 2023
I was exposed to many different projects with cross-functional teams with opportunities to develop expertise on different process/systems. Knowledgeable personnel. Well planned transitions to incorporate new platforms, and overall focus on productivity and improvement. Surveys are taken seriously and there is a good sense of collaboration being the key to success.
Pros
Great people, never boring
Cons
Recognize high performing individuals for career advancement sooner.

Average biotech
Sr QA Manager (Former Employee) - Thousand Oaks, CA - March 14, 2023
Amgen stop innovating new medicines in house, the CEO prefer to spend money on adquisitions. We became a big pharma company and the culture can be toxic some time.

Full of driven, smart and kind people
Senior Marketing Manager (Current Employee) - Thousand Oaks, CA - February 14, 2023
Amgen is an employer that generally treats it's employees well. They provide generous PTO (about 4 weeks a year), also providing two company wide "shut downs" where the whole company goes on leave for a week. They have great health benefits and 401K match. The people of Amgen are smart and driven but not cutthroat. They are good at working with others. One drawback is the pay is not quite as high as other pharma/biotech companies and they also do not have the associate director title, so it can be very challenging to jump from senior manager to director.

Difficult Management
Senior Biopharmaceutical Representative-Bone Health Business Unit (Former Employee) - Midwest - February 12, 2023
They originally hired 450 representatives. Then they would let go of 150. Then 6 months later they would hire 300. It was constant up and down. These are peoples lives and families they are messing with, it was difficult to be part of this company.
Pros
Name recognition
Cons
Poor management

Good place to work
Senior Manager (Former Employee) - Thousand Oaks - February 6, 2023
Difficult to get promoted. Good management, healthy organizational culture. Good benefits. The problem is that it is hard to advance your career, whether vertically or laterally.

Stressful environment
Consultant/Project Manager (Former Employee) - Thousand Oaks, CA - February 5, 2023
Amgen campus and buildings are first rate. It is a very stressful work environment. Consultants are not treated the same as employees. Excluded from many activities.

You can't trust people there
Process Development Associate (Former Employee) - Thousand Oaks, CA - January 27, 2023
The people here are only looking out for themselves. Nobody is your friend, so don't expect to make connections with your co-workers. People use you, so that they can get ahead.

High Contingent Workforce Turnover
Analyst (Former Employee) - Thousand Oaks, CA - January 26, 2023
It's an interesting place - prime for learning, but they make little to no investment in supporting contingent worker success or demonstrating allegiance.

Culture going downhill
Senior Manager (Current Employee) - Ventura County, CA - January 26, 2023
Been at Amgen over a decade, sadly not what it used to be. Very political, constant changes/turnover and lots of uncertainty. Senior leaderships sincerity/motives questionable.

Amgen
Administrative Specialist (Former Employee) - Newbury Park, CA - January 22, 2023
Amgen is a great company to work for. Their newly upgraded open office environment makes it comfortable to be at work and their family values make work schedules flexible with a come and go policy and work from home options. They have excellent benefits and take good care of their employees. There is an on site gym, cafes, coffee shops, soccer field, basketball courts and regular events for family and friends.

Ok place
Director (Former Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - January 20, 2023
Pockets of organization that is amazing and some not so good. Also depends on group you belong to as they have politics and comes in the way of productivity.
