Very fast. Unpredictable--which is a part of home health as emergencies sometimes necessitate patients being seen that day instead of later in the week. However, management, pressured by corporate, often made it much more difficult; we had 48 hrs to admit new pts or pts returning home from the hospital. I understand the importance of doing it asap and all the nurses were willing to do so when it was urgent, but many times they insisted on non-urgent patients--who had been at home, just were going to start therapy, or were in a facility anyway--that same day even if it was late afternoon by the time we got orders, even if the pt lived 50 miles away. Very frustrating & so unnecessary to put the extra stress on the nurses.
