Leadership is lacking. Immature culture.
Manager (Current Employee) –  Canonsburg, PADecember 9, 2018
I have not had a positive experience at Ansys. If you're not "one of the boys", you don't advance. Turnover in leadership leads to a distrustful culture and people throwing each other under the bus to keep their jobs. People are let go for no reason even when doing their jobs and doing them well just because they're not "one of the boys". Leadership team doesn't take the time to get to know the employees and lets people go indiscriminately. It's a shame because there is a lot of potential.
Process/procedure is lacking. The employee systems are disparate depending on the region or business group. Could be a great place to work if not for the leadership...
Pros
Good benefits. Talented engineers.
Cons
Poor vacation for US based employees. Leadership.

Flexible work environment
Sr. Strategic Marketing Analyst (Current Employee) –  Pittsburgh, PADecember 4, 2018
ANSYS is ideal company to work for, management is flexible and open to change. There is a wealth of knowledge to obtain in the areas of simulation and engineering, that is simplified for non-engineers to understand in order for them to make an impact in a short time. If you are willing to learn and develop, then this is the place for you.

ANSYS is good company to work for fresh graduates
Lead Application Engineer (Current Employee) –  Chicago, ILJune 18, 2018
ANSYS is very friendly to fresh graduates and gives huge number of opportunities for new employees, who are fresh from school, to learn and grow. The working environment is great and collaboration within the company is very well encouraged.

ok, not exciting at all.
Principal Engineer (Former Employee) –  San Jose, CAMay 17, 2018
a typical company maybe still running the company culture of Pennsylvania as it's headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA. The EDA department was acquired in this decade in the silicon valley so it's quite isolated from other business of the company.

Callous, indifferent culture
Manager (Former Employee) –  Pittsburgh, PAApril 26, 2018
High and consistent management churn and turnover means constant layoffs among both management and direct reports.

Upper managers are snide, sarcastic, and power hungry to the detriment of the entire organization.

Unfullfilled/broken promises of promotions, unbelievable romance and affairs among management and staff is rampant.

Protectionism and "good 'ol boys" network" are alive and well.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Terrible Management, especially in finance, operations, and IT. Engineers are better.

Coworkers are a bit quirky but very enjoyable to work with. The management will help you succeed at your position and success is very rewarding. Everyone gets their own office and the compensation is more than fair.

Poor management but great place to learn for IT
Senior Help Desk Analyst (Former Employee) –  Canonsburg, PAMarch 19, 2018
If you can deal with horrible leadership and a company that makes you feel like a number, this is a great place to learn if you work in IT. They want you to do more than your job title.
Pros
Great place to learn if in Information Technology field
Cons
horrible management - make you feel like a number

Not a 'Silicon Valley' culture
Senior Software Engineer (Former Employee) –  San Jose, CAJanuary 8, 2018
Rather dull job, very slow development process.
Very reluctant to improve old code even with known bugs in it.
Nice people.
But nothing on the edge of technology.
Obsolete UI.
Understandable with clients nor willing updates but makes the job uninteresting.
Pros
Decent people
Cons
No stock options

Great Product But Needs Retooling Internally
Software Developer I (Former Employee) –  Canonsburg, PANovember 2, 2017
It was a good place to work, they make a great product, and I learned a lot about the industry but the management and vision was lacking, there was a culture that resisted change, and they spread their employees thin by not adding necessary human resources.
Pros
good benefits, good location, exposure to lots of industries
Cons
difficult to climb corporate ladder, unwilling to change rapidly

Company that does amazing things
Software Engineer II & R&D Engineer (Current Employee) –  San Jose, CAOctober 15, 2017
The work at ANSYS is overall quite good. They are a large company that are past all the Start-Up culture. Good benefits and a good life-work balance.

However, I relocated from one location to another and they didn't adjust my salary accordingly.

Interesting work, lacks good upper management
CO-OP (Former Employee) –  Canonsburg, PAJuly 2, 2017
Work was very enjoyable, specifically projects that allowed different aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle. The overall culture of the company felt splinted because of the combinations of multiple companies acquired. Change in management causes different parts of the company to do their own thing without an unified system. Also very difficult to be promoted.
Pros
Interesting work, free beverages, excellent coworkers
Cons
Bad upper level management, no room for growth
