Staff Nurse (Current Employee) – Lancaster, CA – February 14, 2018
AVH is a great place to gain experience although the education is lacking and things are not always done per protocol. High acuity large hospital with lots of opportunity to try your hand at anything you are interested in. Pay is good considering the cost of living in this area.
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) – Lancaster, CA – February 9, 2018
Antelope valley hospital is a big hospital where nurses can gain so much experiences that we may never get anywhere else. Things are fast paced but that keeps people on their toes. There is a sense of community here and working here makes us all feel that we are caring for our community, family, friends and neighbors.
Salary and benefit.
no 401K. But there is a pension plan that is better than 401k.
Marketing Professional (Current Employee) – Lancaster, CA – February 7, 2018
I have seen some of the hardest working and most dedicated professionals here at Antelope Valley Hospital. The new management team is dedicated, passionate, driven and visionary. I see good things to come for Antelope Valley Hospital.
RN (Former Employee) – Lancaster, CA – January 31, 2018
To be an ER nurse at AV Hospital has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. However busy, the ER team makes the hardest days easier. Management was always quick to respond to problems and/or suggestions when necessary.
Nurse Assistant/ Secretary (Current Employee) – Couplet Care – January 28, 2018
Enjoyed my coworkers on night shift. Loved cuddling and bathing the babies. Learned a lot about health care and providing proper care to the patients. Some time it was very challenging dealing with uneducated patients and visitors. These last few years we had excellent management, who care about their employees. Antelope Valley Hospital is my home away from home. I will really miss my job.
Travel Occupational Therapist (Former Employee) – Lancaster, CA – January 26, 2018
good orientation re: documentation programs, job pays well, easy to get a hang of, only downside is the location. Lots of travelers, but most staff is willing to help you out right away. I enjoyed my rotation.
Great place for learning skills, very fast paced and a lot of opportunities for moving up
Radiologic Technology Student (Former Employee) – Lancaster, CA – January 8, 2018
AV Hopsital was an amazing place to do my clinicals. They had a lot to offer to learn from since they are a tier 2 trauma center, we were always busy and always had a lot of exams and operations going on that we could participate in and learn from.
ADN Student Nurse (Former Employee) – Lancaster, CA – December 2, 2017
Our instructor assigned our patients to us. We shadowed Rn's for the day and received report from the prior RN during shift change. We gave meds and insulin etc. Changed IV bags, or added medication to them, did patient assessments and vitals throughout day as necessary. Evaluated EKG strips, monitored Telemetry Pts. and applied patches or reapplied them. Used a medication dispensing machine to accurately receive medication as per doctors orders. Charted during day and also at end of shift.
Learned hands on experience working side by side with RN
Float Pool Registered Nurse (Former Employee) – Lancaster, CA – November 27, 2017
Worst job I ever had. I loved all my other jobs but hated this one. All the department managers fired within months of my hiring. All new hires placed on double final written warnings under 3 months employment.
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT SECRETARY II (Current Employee) – Lancaster, CA – November 15, 2017
AVH is the 3rd busiest in Southern California and there is always something new to learn or experience. It's great taking care of the community I grew up in. I was born in this hospital, so it means something special to work here and participate in the care for each and every patient.
